Pfft. "Watering down everything"? So Wii FPS's won't have a silly physics engine or bloom everywhere. That doesn't mean the Wii isn't capable of producing a fun, unique - and pretty - FPS.


 True, but that's not what most core gamers want. Very few games in that style and of such direction become popular (Timesplitters is the exception rather than the rule). And casuals really don't care about FPS games anyway it seems. I think we'll see more and more of "hardcore" dev's not taking the Wii seriously I'm afraid.

I think that if timesplitters is being developed for anything nextgen Free Radical should definitely include the Wii in their project. TS has never been about graphics, it's more of style savvy series then anything. What you said about some developers may hold some truth, however there's been some breakthroughs. For instance about two month ago crytek stated that their are currently "experimenting with the Wii". It could mean that they're testing it maybe to work on a upcoming game or to see if the Wii is worth their time. Whether or not the wii becomes the powerhouse of Fps as long as it has some decent ones (that actually sell) you won't see any complaints from me, and with the current sells on the Wii I'm certain developers won't either.

I've always had problems shooting with duel analog but the Wii controls finally make me love fps. I hope Wii starts to get more of that genre.



^ yeah it did feel a little weird when I went back to TS2 after playing Mp3:C. Same thing with super mario sunshine I was just playing it and a enemy got close to me and I instinctively jerked the controller thinking for a brief second that I was holding a wii remote. I think the wii controls just grow on you over time.



I haven't read this entire thread, but with regard to it making walking very tedious, I have a solution: use the analog stick for walking, but if the board detects you start to walk, it takes precedence and the character moves at the relevant speed.

I think there is room for a great improvement in the FPS genre for the Wii, but I think it will always be 3rd place after 360 and Ps3, respectively.

But the Wii will be first in "casual" games.



Let me be the first to point out that Halo is a very 'casual' game, but we won't get into that.

Metriod Prime 3, while not technically an FPS, is still the first game of that type I've actually enjoyed. I never learned how to aim with a joystick and hopefully now I'll never have to. Also have MoHH2 to try out when I get around to it. I don't need the fancy graphics and head-tracking whatever fancy things you all are talking about, I just love the pointer, reminds me of when I used to play the first FPS's years ago on the PC.

 I just got done playing some MoHH2.  I'm convinced people who say the PS3 and 360 are more fun and immersive FPS wise have not used the Shotgun in MOHH2.

 Fire, duck, pump the barrel, pop up, fire, repeat.  The Shotgun rules.

 "Exprimenting with the Wii" is probably just the excuse they use when peole catch them playing it in their breakroom.
