Forums - Gaming - Has Rage gone too far with 22GB install?

I only have 9 gigs left so does that mean they will let me play slightly less than half of the game?

No big deal. It's optional on the 360 and the PS3 will likely have a much smaller mandatory installation. On PC this is pretty normal.

On pc you buy 2 TB drives for <100$

Ask yourself why they would need a mandatory install when Blue-ray disks have more then enough room.

360's install is optional and if the PS3 has one then I can almost guarantee it won't be bigger then 6 gigs or so.

Same reasons pc games have had install for years, it makes things alot easier on the dev, the only reason the 360 doesn't is because devs have to go out of their way to make it not because of the arcade model.

I suspect this is more down to the mega-texture approach in ID5 tech than anything specific about PS3/360 not being good enough. TBH so far as I understand the mega-texture I'd assume that even on a PS4/720 you'd either need to fully install or play from the disk only.

The install is optional so it's not like you need to do it... although I get a feeling it might be more noticeable than with most titles if you don't.

Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...

first its optional

second its only a problem if you are on 360 which has a disc space problem which is growing with large games coming and that 360 comes with small hard drive space.

install is not optional.. take it all or dont play

So is this game going to be on multiple discs? If so, what's the big deal? I've installed all of the Lost Odyssey discs, Mass Effect 2, Blue Dragon, and a few other games. Sometimes, I keep all of the data installed. Sometimes, I delete them. It takes about 10 minutes (give or take) to install 5+ GB. Just install the discs as you get to them or when you're bored.

Of course, I won't be buying this game. It's not my style. Why am I even here?

My thoughts pretty much, though I couldn't actually instal those games as when I played them I had my Pro HDD, which I have now replaced with a lovely 250GB with only Crackdown 2 on it at the moment

But it is not that surprising, I was actually reading about it on wiki today and saw that it was going to take up 3 DVDs, so 22GB was only to be expected with the way that games install on the Xbox
