I love how some people think the rioting would be better if everyone had guns. Do you know who that would mean also have guns? The rioters.

If the rioters had guns they wouldn't riot...

because they'd get shot.

Or if they did riot they CERTAINTLY wouldn't bring their guns with them.

Anyone who has any sense knows to not bring a gun with you on a crime... unless it's a crime where you expect to shoot people.

In previous riots such as the 1992 Los Angeles riots there were incidents of gun battles.

very very few yes.  And they ended up preventing more crimes then they created.

They were the very definition of exception to the rule.

There is a reason why the LA riots is seen as a card in the Anti-gun control arguement, and never mentioned by the Pro Gun Control Movement.

The police chickened out, and the people (Koreans in general) were able to defend themselves and their stores.  The guns were a success story in preventing the riots from getting worse.

Certain groups of Shop Owners got volenteers and created a self defense force to protect their community when the government refused to... and those areas were saved.

Well that and the riots happened in one of the strongest gun gun control states that's most liberal.

To the contrary, most rioters do.

Afterall, why do you think rioting devolves into looting pretty quickly?

Why do you think riots happen but the individual crimes happen much less frequently?

People RELY on the anonimity of the group and the belief that the numbers will make you just one of a sea of many.

Having a gun puts a big target on your back.

@chrism95

"Coloureds running"

That's not funny. You should change it to "why did they only riot for 4 days..... they're not willing to do a full weeks work"

One thing that anyone outside London needs to take into account regarding the riots is that Londoners and the south in general are pussy crybabies. If it snows, they'll claim the sky is falling even though Scotland gets the same weather daily. A few puddles and the ice sheets are melting, their floods are not even remotely comparable to other parts of the country but because it's London we all have to pay attention.

A little bit of shoplifting down south and LONDON'S BURNING, send in the army, shoot the 12 year olds, starve them out of existence. Strange considering the viewing figures of The Wire (God Bless Omar).

The typical southerner will tell you an exaggerated version of all his problems and finish off with "but you can't complain" where as the rest of the country just doesn't complain.
