Has Final Fantasy XIII disappointed you?

CGI was great yes. But gameplay was ok. Not even in the top 30 this gen. Character models were clunky, Environments stale and lifeless and to be frank, Extremely disappointing. Not much better ingame than say Two Worlds or Resonance Of Fate.

SE I wil burn you down. What a shame Hironobu Sakaguchis series has been destroyed like this. It must be hard for him to witness this.

It is an exceptionally beautiful game, and I can't help but tell you that you obviously played the inferior version.

Some chaptes scream visual perfection.

He is talking about FF 13 not red dead redemption, you see FF 13 only had detailed textures but nothing else, in fact grass was a bitmap on the floor like in the NES era, no follage at all, even in the forest everything was made metallic to avoid adding any mothing to the bushes, some parts of the game were desert or snow but the win never blowed in the desert and snow was stiff like ice, there was no wild life other than the monster you have to fight. No bump mappping or normal mapping, as i said only very detailed flat (conviniently lifeless) textures. All that just because EE was too cheap to make a good inmersive game.

I have no idea where that came from!?

And overall FFXIII received universal acclaim for its beautiful graphics. All games use tricks to save processing power, the important thing is the overall effect. And you're dead wrong about the characters. They are stunning.

Now I haven't seen the 360 version, but I can add that its definitely up there with Uncharted 2.

Uncharted actually has decent to good villians and a story that doesnt suck, thats just me

Put simply: Graphics account for shit if the gameplay sucks. Why don't more people see that? this is a game not a pixar film (and even Pixar movies tend to have great character development, stories, and villains, unlike this).

The antithesis to Final Fantasy XIII is Demons Souls. whereas 13 was easy but relied on repetition, random chance, and perseverence (and luck), Demons Souls required precision, skill, and intelligence. 13's battle system was so poor and cheap they had to make it so that there was no punishment for death because they refused to balance the game properly. Demons Souls on the other hand has punishment for death because if you died it's becuase you messed up, not because your teammates were too busy dicking around to get out of the way of the massive sword coming down on their head.

That's a seriously idiotic comment. Congratulations.

How about checking the context before saying nonsense like that!? The Metacritic score is IRRELEVANT when discussing graphics. Did you play it on PS3 at all? It's mesmerizingly beautiful and certainly its not ridiculous to say its in the same league as the current best looking game on console.
