So the final score is MS at 72.4 and Sony at 78.71, all of Sony's lesser selling titles eventually overcame MSes stronger selling ones, and I didn't count games released before ps3s release because I felt that the games needed to be over the same time frame in order for the comparison to be accurate

Then to be really accurate, you should have counted the sales of those games from November 2006 to today.

Yup, dsage claimed earlier that that doesn't matter because Gears had sold 3.5 million before PS3 came out anyway, which is a lie, it sold around 900k, the other 5 mill were done once PS3 launched. The other games I'd have to check

Yup, PGR3 had sold 400k in its first year, then did another 950k after the PS3 released, Viva Pinata released 1 week before PS3 and did 36k (lol) so the other 1.57M sales came after PS3.

So the sales of Gears + PGR3 + Viva Pinata after PS3 launched put 360 total at about 79.9M

That's not even counting PDZ, NNN and Kinect Adventures (which should be included as he's included bundled SW (Forza, Motorstorm, Resistance)

You just pwned the OP lol.

Also, why not just align the launches and compare the software like that if you truly want to be "fair."

That would make more sense to me also. Don't know why he didn't do that, i wouldn't even be suprised if ps3 would be on top that way.

Just let the ps3 have the win for now, because by the end of the year the 360 will take over with games like games like Gears 3, Forza 4, Halo CE Anniversary, and the slew of kinect games.

What arnt you getting 0_o, it's not giving MS any extra time at all. You're NOT including that extra years worth of sales, only the sales AFTER the PS3 launched, so they both get 4 years 9 months worth of sales.

My mind is made up, you're definitely doing this so PS3 wins.

No however you look at it I'd be including an extra years worth of games

The PS3 launched two days before the Wii does that mean that every PS3 launch game would be excluded if you were to do the same analysis for PS3 vs Wii?

Like I already stated in hindsight I would of included Gears since it's date is so close, so of course not, but counting a full year extra of games is riddcules

Just to clairify, exactly what is the target of this thread. to find out who has sold the most 1st party SW since the PS3 released?

No it's to compare the sales of Sony/MS published games in the exact same perameters

It's not the exact same parameters though. You're excluding software sold during the same period. Thus not the same. Fact.

On both sides, no game published by Sony is included despite them selling games during the same period

what do you mean? that sentance doesn't really make sense.

You say I'm excluding software sales by MS during the time frame that is correct what you don't understand is I'm also excluding software sales of  Sony during the time frame, both of them only have games published from the same date counting, I'm not counting software sales of games before that on either side thus it's even

This thread is PS3 vs 360 (as I see no PSP, PS2 in the OP) so there is no PS3 to exclude. You're including MGS4 sales in 2011, but not Gears of War or Viva Pinata in 2011. Thus you're excluding SW in the same timeframe and it isn't the sama parameter.

The other guy got this right, you're cherrypicking.

Why should I keep one perameter but lose another and give MS a year extra worth of games?

Ok we're going round in circles now. Let me lay it out for you.

To determine who has sold the most first party software since the Playstations 3's release in Nov 2006, you need to count ALL Software, ALL Software, sold from THAT point on. Not a day before, not a day after.

If you refuse to acknowledge that is the only fair way then I'm gonna request this thread be locked because when the OP cherrypicks the data like that they usually are.

Again, the ONLY fair way to work out who has sold the most first party SW since the PS3's release si to include everything from that day forward.

It's pretty damn easy to understand, everyone else here agrees, but the PS3 will lose, hence why you refuse to do it.

when you made this thread you only had ps3 to 360 comparison not sony to ms. You are not inluding software sold for the 360 during the same time that the ps3 sold software. its clear what you want here, a look at how good sony is thread, and not an actual comparison. that is fine, have your thread, but you should change the op to reflect what you want. your bias is really out in the open now. If you want an actual comparisson thread make one including the info we told you are missing or do a from launch timeline for each console. other wise this thread is really just useless.

Edit: After reading your respones to me and seece and some others in this thread its clear you do not want an actual comparison for discussion. I'm over going in circles with you.
