Wort wort wort!
One of my predictions came true!
Congrats to MS, and hopefully they go full bore next year to be either flat or up a bit YoY again.
Can 360 have its peak year in its 6th year?
Yep, easily. | 246 | 34.84%
Nope, not a chance. | 209 | 29.60%
Close, and it will just do it. | 132 | 18.70%
Close, but it will just miss. | 119 | 16.86%
Total: | 706 |

They're already smashing industry records and dismissing history, but if they were up again next year it would be something incredible.
Looks like I didn't post here before, meaning I wasn't wrong :p.
It's really done amazing in the US. Best year by a good margin.
Wow... Kinect is a game changer after all.
isn't there some thread that is probably 2 years old saying that all consoles have peaked?

Absolutely, it'd be pretty amazing if they somehow managed to do it again next year, but they do have the necesary ingredients to do it I think if it's something they really want to push for.
And that to me really says enough, back in 2006/2007 I honestly thought Microsoft could not save the Xbox brand, but am I glad they've turned it around.
count down to see the latest numbers ending 31st December2011 /1st January 2012
i can not wait for the next installment of vgchartz weekly sales numbers.
360 and ps3 both sold over 14 million sales in the 2011 calendar year. ps3 or 360 sold more console systems for 2011. ps3 had a good lead in excess of 1.4 million over the x360. strong finish to the year has seen the x360 close the gap to under 250k ps3 lead.
Well I thought it would be close but just miss. I figured with the economy sales in US would just deny it a win over 2010 - but I was wrong there
I always said MS would play strong bundles/advertising over holiday's in the US and I have to hand it to them they did so well enough to overcome earlier sales trends and beat 2010. Now I'm almost thinking they might just take number 1 home console for the year. I still think that's going to be close but a just miss - but who knows they turned this "close but miss" into a win.
This really is turning out to be a history defining gen. 360 keeps growing, PS3 keeps growing, while Wii, the early leader is now the only one apparently following the rules and clearly dipping with a successor on the way.
More than ever I'm really doubtful - unless they chose to for other reasons - that we'll see a new Xbox or Playstation before Q4 2013. Just seems no need looking at HW/SW sales and the market.
Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...

it could happen...
a better economy (God I pray thee...)
a price cut
kinect with 20 million and better games will make it more in demand....
no next gen 2013 press
all the new dash integration believe it or not is a plus. i rather like checking my youtube subs voice only on the xbox without the computer xbox > bing halle berry i had a couple friends run out and buy x360 the same day i showed them that lol
next year holiday bundles will be crazy
VGC has 13.61m in 2010 and it is already at 13.6 YTD and it remains one week... I think 2011 is its peak year !
