Interesting how yesterday this was a "terrorist attack" and now its morphed to "confused white guy"...

Yeah, wth? Why the "confused"? More like completely insane

MrBubbles was actually just parodying media outlets, who called this a "terrorist attack" when the guy was believed to be a muslim, and now that it's shown that he's a white right wing christian, it's just a "confused"/insane individual. Instead of using the terms that would accurately describe him (right wing christian terrorist).

He's not really right wing if you read his posts. He's anti racist (arabs are ok so long as they aren't muslim?) Pro Homosexual, and Pro Israel. His ideaology is a very interesting mix of things. Though he definitely hates Islam.

I read his forum posts. I don't know where you got all that. He's definately right wing, and considering his religious views, he is not pro-homosexual in the slightest.

He is right wing, but he appears to be a classical liberal and not the neo-Nazi he's been portrayed as in the media. Especially as he is an ardent admirer of Winston Churchill and has described his own thinking in a forum post as "anti-racist, pro-homosexual, pro-Israeli". He's also pro-free market, and according to Facebook his favorite book is "On Liberty" by John Stuart Mills. Basically, he's one odd duck for a spree killer.

Except the probem with that is... when someone DOES have a gun... which criminals always will... they can do whatever the hell they want until the police can get out there.

Like... say this very case.

I mean, i'd rather people not comit crimes then have cops...

yet...

Except that would not have done jack shit. Even in the US, where people are allowed to carry guns, there has been almost no massacres stopped because someone had a gun and decided to shoot the perpetrator. Usually they end up shooting themselves once they realize they are more or less done. Statistically speaking, all that freedom to carry a gun does is provide nut cases with guns (shit, in Georgia you can sell used guns as long as the person you are selling it to provides you with an ID they are over 18 and SAY they are licensed, no proof of it needed), it allows for a proliferation of arms due to there being demands and the proliferation just leads to more crime using guns, and finally, it does jack shit on the self-defense side when it REALLY matters. Basically, "this gun is for defense" is a whole load of shit when it comes to massacres like these. I would also LOVE to hear the argument about knives being deadly too, because I doubt someone would be able to kill 80 people with a knife.

OT: This is terrible. People like these shouldn't even be considered human. I say he shuold just be tortured and executed.

There are "almost no massacres stopped because someone had a gun" because guns are rare in general.  Usually when said perpetrator kills themselves its because they are confrotned with... a gun.

Aside from which, talk to stickball, he could provide you with some pretty large datapoints involving guns, gunlaws and guncrime.

That gun you mentioned being a police officer or some other, well trained, official. Not some random guy with a gun, probably beacuse the average untrained person shits their pants and runs the hell away, gun or no.

I'm sure it has happened for a random gun-wielding citizen to stop a massacre, but I certainly cannot remember such a case and I do not believe this is due to selective memory on my part...

Unfortunately I remember many cases where the killing spree only ended due to police intervention, including the one I mentioned earlier which happened at a military installation!

Or you know... because...  Concealed carriers are low, and mass spree killers are even lower and crimes are lower in areas with concealed carry laws.

There are plenty of cases of concealed carriers stopping crimes... both during the crime and preventitivly.

You may as well complain that citizens trained in CPR haven't saved any spree killers, therefore CPR training is worthless.

Todays news aside these things are EXTREMLY rare, and how many have even happened in conceal carry states in places where you can conceal a weapon?

The only one I can think of is the Jared Loughner case.  Where around a senator during an event, no doubt everyone was checked.... AND a person with a concealed carry liscense did come to help, however he had already been tackled by three people.  One I believe being a person who himself had a concealed carry liscense but didn't have the gun on him.

You aren't alowed to have guns inside a military installation unless your running security.  Otherwise i'm pretty sure one of the 5-6 guys who tried to stop him by rushing him or thorwing furniture at him would of just shot him, and we would of had a lot less loss of life.

So, in other words, he shares the same beliefs as yourself. I guess he also fits the profile of the typical conservative in Europe, and the typical Tea Party member in the US. Interesting...

Hmmm, I don't think he's an odd duck. He actually fits the profile of a terrorist pretty perfectly. He's from a middle or upper class family, he's well educated (but not in the humanities or social sciences), outgoing and charming, and a political activist with extremist views.
