Its on a Nintendo platform. Obviously is not hardcore.

Stop trying to play that boring old card.

Dragon Quest IX was advertised as a dressing up game in the UK. I don't think dressing up games are hardcore.

It was misadvertised though - it clearly wasn't a dressing up game :)

Even if this was advertised as a dressing up game, is not a dressing up game.

Oh, btw, UK =/= world.

UK =/= the world. You are full of it with your superiority complex. Refusing to call yourself Europeans, because you are British.

I could be worse. I could be Scottish, and totally refuse to accept that I'm even part of the UK, nevermind Europe.

Not too sure how accurate this is (and I can't be arsed to check lol) but I remember reading on another forum somewhere that there are more Wii third party million sellers than first and third party million sellers combined for the PS3.

Actually at the moment they appear to be equal for third party million sellers, but not Wii beating them both combined like you said.

There are 103 million sellers on the PS3 with Sony taking up 23 leaving 80 third party sellersand 117 on the Wii with Nintendo taking up 37 so you got 80 third party

total Software (million selling games only)
ps3   237.66M

360   323.95M

wii   474.59M

total Software (million selling games only, first party)
ps3   60.45M

360   87.4M

wii   331.18M

total Software (million selling games only, third party (calculated from above data))
ps3   177.21

360   236.55

wii   143.41

----------------

equal in number isn't really equal imo.   all numbers are vgchartz.

Looking at those numbers, I wouldn't blame third parties for releasing their big games on PS360. Seems more friendly platforms. 3/4 million sellers are from thrid parties, and first partys are similars with them. They build the market with both offerings.

Wii on the other hand, has the sales concentrated on first partys. Not looking good for third parties. Hope with Wii U both (Ninty-third parties) can make a balanced market to sell.

so the marketing makes the game hardcore and not the game itself?

Didn't you hear? The UK is just an extended part of the USA now :p

I'm downright offended if you consider DQ hardcore. It's not that it's only supposed to appeal to freaks, it's just that most people from the West don't understand how to play it, :P. It wouldn't be phenomenally popular in any region if it were hardcore. That probably applies to others on the list, but I can't be bothered to point them out.
By the way, since it tops out at under 2.5m, that list of well-performing hardcore games on the Wii is an absolute joke anyway. And I'm glad.

someone should just make a nice set of guidelines so everyone knows what is hardcore and what isnt, that way these arguments could stay on topic. maybe sort the most referenced/talked about/brought up games into their respective categories?
