Can the PS3 transmitted  HD video wirelessly?

Given that remote play works over the internet, i imagine it would certainly be capable of achieving that locally.

I doubt it. I seen the video on youtube but I cant tell if its wireless. In fact, heck no PS3 doesnt have this feature. What  the hell is thread about?

you being unaware of the feature does not mean "PS3 doesnt have this feature"

( video of game streaming from ps3 - psp ) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mASdFCTNA7I

...all it means is that you were unaaware of it

That video is conveniently dark, cant tell if its wireless or even if its a regular ps3 transmitting it.

um dude remote play is a known feature of ps3 it entails wireless transmission of content wireless between p-s3 and psp more details :

http://blog.us.playstation.com/2008/12/30/ps3-how-to-setting-up-remote-play-between-your-psp-and-ps3/

http://uk.playstation.com/psp/support/network/detail/linked240472/item66124/Remote-Play/

why is it so hard to believe that it supported this? what else do you guys think is needed for this other than a wireless connection and enough processing power

No PS3 802.11g  cannot transmit HD video wirelessly. U think there is a way to connect your ps3 to your hdTv wirelessy ( with some wireless adapter for the tv)? Even at 720P? NO.

So since the PS3 is using the 802.11g to transmit lower quality video this means it cannot connect to the internet or use the internet for anything else.

So in a nutshell if u are using this feature:

  • The picture quality will be degraded.
  • U cannot play your games online

IN one sentence

The ps3 cannot stream HD content to vita wirelessly,  stream normally to hdtv, and be connected to the internet all at the same time. Not to the slightest

Which means PS3+ vita cannot do What the WiiU can do. This thread is irrelevant

"The ps3 cannot stream HD content to vita wirelessly"

quick question does the wii u controller output HD? go research that then you'll realise how what you just posted makes no sense

"So in a nutshell"

  • The picture quality will be degraded. ( the same as with the wii u )
  • U cannot play your games online ( this point lost me how? )
"So since the PS3 is using the 802.11g to transmit lower quality video ( LIKE THE WII U ALTHOUGH I DON'T THINK ITS USING 802.11 ) this means it cannot connect to the internet or use the internet for anything else. i asked this above but how? the ps3 has 2 methods of online connectivity wifi and wired

quick question does the wii u controller output HD

The picture quality will be degraded. ( the same as with the wii u )

There is no official specs. And no, counting pixel from videos don't count lol.  But there is no noticeable degradation or any change of quality at all in the demos shown at E3. On a 6" screen  WIth the HDTV in front of them to compare. And the Wii U  can support more than 1 controller ( at least twice the resolution).

i asked this above but how? the ps3 has 2 methods of online connectivity wifi and wired

Remote play uses the internet functions of the PS3 in order to work. So no matter if its wireless or not you are using the ps3 bandwidth. Else you can use ps3 wireless and wired connections together and get twice the internet speed. U not gonna find some work around by using a wired connection for internet LOL.

im beginning to get the idea that this is pointless "But there is no noticeable degradation or any change of quality at all in the demos shown at E3"

the resolution of the tablet screen confirmed by nintendo ( up till now but may be revised later on ) : 854 x 480 (WVGA)

high def resolution ( bare minimum ) : 1280×720 ( 720p )

whats going on up there? / please explain that to me and it correlates with what you keep posted

"So no matter if its wireless or not you are using the ps3 bandwidth"

its possible to still access psn while playing lair according to what you've posted that shouldn't be possible please explain

look man all i ask if you try to debate me is at least to try to make an effort to educate yourself on whats going...

NIntendo did confirm the WiiU is capitable with more than one controls( your 480 x2= 960). But sorry  cant find anything on Ninty confirming the resolution so some links can be helpful.

its possible to still access psn while playing lair according to what you've posted that shouldn't be possible please explain

Of course, you have to sign in to psn to start remote play dont you? But u cannot use the internet for anything else( or anything else meaningful is what i should of said)  because you are using the PS3's single bandwidth!!!(Like downloading and playing online). Jeez

no... remote play works either via local direct connection or over the internet again you demonstrate beven further that you have no knowledge of how it works so why bother commenting on it?

"But sorry  cant find anything on Ninty confirming the resolution so some links can be helpful."

http://thelatestgaming.com/wii-u-controller-isnt-hd/

quote from the article :

"Nintendo has confirmed to the media at E3 that the Wii U controller screen is not HD"

"NIntendo did confirm the WiiU is capitable with more than one controls"

no.... nintendo never confirmed that the wii u has support for more than one controller ( if i'm wrong prove it with a link ) and whats more is that all of the demos they've done so far imply that they didn't really consider supporting multiple controllers... go watch the demos again if you doubt me how many of them show more than one being used?... bare in mind i'm not saying they won't do it later on but that so far they haven't shown or said they will support it

http://wiiublog.com/multiple-controllers-on-the-wii-u-is-possible-but-cost-is-an-issue/

Iwata himself.

right... but the point is that it has not been confirmed that it will use multiple controllers as you said earlier all thats been said so far is that it is possible but that the price is prohibitive and so they didn't have plans of releasing the controller seperately...

http://www.news.com.au/technology/gaming/nintendos-shigeru-miyamoto-explains-the-new-wii-u/story-e6frfrt9-1226071923070

They are researching ways of play if your friend brings a controller. but the basic premise for Nintendo right now is one controller per home. Because of cost.  But  since its very  possible third parties can use it if they wish.

To sum it all up

There are  no offical specs but if it is true that the WiiU screen is not HD(not 720p). THen its close, the very link u post above clarify this as its  impossible to tell(even under close examination as reported from virtually everyone. But maybe under a magnifying glas or somethin) the difference with a 1080p screen right infront of them( with a 6" ( not4.3") screen right infront  there face to make examinations).

Which means that the 802.11g connection will not be even be close to being stream the video close to the quality of a single WiiU. (The ps3 currently streams at 272p )

Secondly you still cannot play your games online( since the 802.11g antennae is using the single 'modem's' bandwidth). If this was possible Nintendo would have been using the 3ds WiiU/Wii configuration( simular to the Ps3/psp configuration). OR the WiiU controller would have been backwards compatible with the Wii.

http://www.computerandvideogames.com/310648/news/wii-u-and-3ds-connection-has-limitations-iwata-admits/

since the 3ds use 802.11g connection. it forces the single wiiU modem to stop streaming to internet(wirelessly or wired) and the modem's/transmitter's bandwidth would use its 802.11g antennae to transmit to the 3ds. Also if 802.11g was capable of streaming video quality as WiiU does, then they would have been using it( with a seperate transmitter) and the 3ds would have been able to work no problems.

And finally even if all the above was possible the PS3 doesnt have the processing power  transmit the multiple views at the same game without loss in  graphical quality.

Again

The ps3 cannot stream high resolution content to vita wirelessly,  stream normally to hdtv, and be connected to the internet (in any meaningful way) all at the same time. Not to the slightest

Which means PS3+ vita cannot do What the WiiU can do. This thread is irrelevant

"since its very  possible third parties can use it if they wish."

wrong they can't program for a feature that isn't confirmed yet that should be obvious...

"(The ps3 currently streams at 272p )"

wrong again the ps3 can be set up as a media server to stream to pcs at resolutions higher than even the resolution of the wii u screen

"Secondly you still cannot play your games online( since the 802.11g antennae is using the single 'modem's' bandwidth)"

personally i don't know here maybe, maybe not seeing your posts so far im pretty sure i can't really take your claims seriously as i've had to prove most of them wrong

secondly the psp can connect with up to 16 other psps via wifi for gaming as with other devices but somehow you're trying to convince me that the ps3 can't handle two similar connections which i find to be nonsensical but you may be right

"And finally even if all the above was possible the PS3 doesnt have the processing power  transmit the multiple views at the same game without loss in  graphical quality."

the same applies to the wii u even though you haven't figured that out yet as i confirmed the wii u controller is not even close to hd

"The ps3 cannot stream high resolution content to vita wirelessly"

streaming to the vita means streaming at a higher resolution than wii u...

 "stream normally to hdtv"

lol at this point i'm trying to figure out if you're trying to be funny...

"PS3+ vita cannot do What the WiiU can do"

and up till now you still haven't been able to demontrate this properly most of the claims you've made are just downright wrong

btw what type of wireless connection is nintendo using for the wii u to its controller you keep claiming that 802.11 isn't enough to support this type of connection ( even though its the most widely used connectivity standard for close to mid range ) please elaborate on that

"wrong again the ps3 can be set up as a media server to stream to pcs at resolutions higher than even the resolution of the wii u screen"

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.

Dont get dullsional now. To aviod any more quotes.JuSt  gimme one(credible) link where the PS3 streams   REALTIME (meaning u see the video instantly not uploading AVI files lol) , video, wirelessly  at high resolutions(HD or near HD) TO any screen(PC screen or not) without interfence and still be connected to the internet  fully.

Remember is FROM the PS3 TO the Device

i can't find one but i shouldn't have to you don't seem to understand what setting it up as a media server means... all it is, is sharing files on a network ( wireless or wired ) and yes this can be done as a secondary operation while the browser is used

heres a link explaining it : http://manuals.playstation.net/document/en/ps3/current/settings/connectdlna.html

"About DLNA

"

"HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.

dude up till now all i've been doing is showing you how laughably stupid many of the claims you've made are whether it be nonsense about how devs are already developing for features nintendo has said are not finalised with the wii u or stuff like saying the wii u transmits hd up till now you've been as you say "dullsional" you do realise that of course?

lol ok buddy the wii u controller will be cheap thats why up till now nintendo can't come out and tell people whether they will support more than one controller even though they confirmed that its not a technical issue... in fact i'll ask you why do you think they are relunctant to provide more details on support for more controllers? its not a tech issue, you believe its not the price therefore what? i'lll very interested to see what you think it is

btw reality for each person is determined by their knowledge to a certain extent and to my knowledge current controllers retail for $50 - $60 without the aforementioned features therefore logically i come to the conclusion that i have... its not about me "unwilling to accept"

i don't think that if this controller could retail for $80 that nintendo would be so hesitant to announce support for multiple controllers but thats my opinion

First off, do you have proof that Nintendo confirmed that it wasn't a technical issue? We have no technical details about how Nintendo is implementing the streaming of video to the Wii U controller and it is entirely possible that they made a technical decision which is potentially limiting the number of controllers. Even if the hardware doesn't limit the number of controllers directly, Nintendo could be worried about the indirect limitations based on processing power; essentially, much like there is no technical reason why the PS3 can't offer 6 player split-screen games, the impact of adding an additional controler on the graphical quality of a game might be greater than Nintendo anticipates developers are willing to make.

Beyond that, it doesn't have to be a technical or a price decision it could simply be a "design" decision. It is possible that Nintendo has tunnel vision on this issue and needed feedback from consumers/developers to change their mind. Did you realize that initially Nintendo was going to release the Wiimote as being the only controller option, and only after Retro Studios convinced Nintendo of the need for the nunchuck was it included as standard equipment?

Finally, my expectations of $80 to $100 for a second controller still make it a very expensive controller and Nintendo may not believe the market can support such an expensive add on.

With all that said, being that touch screen LCD ebook readers are on the market for close to $100 with a large profit margin for retailers, they contain components that the Wii U controller probably won't (internal memory, CPU, mass storage device, memory card and USB ports etc.), the only components the Wii U controller has that these don't are cheap (buttons, analogue nubs, microphone, CMOS sensor, and a couple of LEDs), and there is 12 to 18 months before the Wii U is launched where the price of the most expensive components in the WIi U controller will fall, I don't understand why you would believe that the Wii U controller will have to sell for over $100.

straight from the horse's mouth :

"Nintendo is opting to focus on single controller concepts for now. But the reason isn't necessarily a technical one, which is what many have suggested limits Wii U's interface. Though Iwata did dodge outright saying there are no technical problems, the focus of his answer is very telling:

"Regardless of the technical question as to whether or not we could do that (use two of the new controllers), for the time being, we will focus on what we can do with a single new controller with the system.""

link : http://wii.ign.com/articles/117/1177013p1.html

"the only components the Wii U controller has that these don't are cheap (buttons, analogue nubs, microphone, CMOS sensor, and a couple of LEDs)"

personally i don't know how you could possible have a full understanding of all the controller's componants but specifically here i'm reffeing to this "CMOS sensor" now i'd have to guess you're comparing it to the sensor in the wiimote but this is more complicated this is a full blown cam for video calling and other features

but regardless i guess you believe it to be a technical issue while i believe otherwise - that the thing is so damn expensive that even nintendo doesn't have the balls to retail it seperately

CMOS sensors were remarkably advanced technology in 1995, today you can buy a web cam with a MSRP under $20 and online for between $5 and $10 ... Even full 720p web-cameras from name brand manufacturers have a MSRP of under $40, and can be purchased regularly for around $20.

By the way a CMOS sensor is a form of pixel sensor which is heavily used in multiple forms of digital cameras. The fundimental difference between a digital camera and the CMOS sensor on the Wiimote is that digital cameras is that most digital camers include a little piece of plastic that filters out IR light and the Wiimote sensor has a little piece of plastic that filters out visible light. In most other aspects the Wiiremote sensor asts as a very low quality digital video camera

um since i said 802.11g not wifi in general( and remember its from ps3 to device).

"and yes it means the ps3 can stream files at high resolutions"

Sorry missed the sentence before. but really it said it it can stream( stream means real time,  you see the video instantly, didnt see the word stream in the entire thing) high resolution video( assuming this is what u meant by files, close to HD) from the ps3 to pc screen. wirelessly. I didnt catch that.LOL

i've had to put up with all of your post haven't i? you though that was easy?

sigh..... PS3 is DLNA certified for down streaming HD videos, it's not an ideal device for up streaming HD videos unless you are running off the gigabit ethernet since you'd want the device to handle more than one stream, in which the memory print would become a problem due to the PS3 having shit for ram, the most it'd be able to do is acting like a file server in this case since coding it to encode videos to different devices via different profiles at the same time would be a pain in the ass for Sony.
