Yes. I'm expecting consoles MMOs to get big next gen.
Especially if Sony and MS have their own screened controller similar to Wii U for using items and skills and all that.
I hope RPG's make a comeback...they have been slacking this gen...my PS2 collection has more RPG's than my 360/PS3/Wii combined(though my handheld collection is about equal to my PS2 collection)
if rpgs did that would be awesome, but its to hard to tell fps games may get another gen on top though.

Oh damn this is epic.
Okay, let's see... I'd say whichever title Nintendo bundles for practically forever with WiiU will account for more sales than any genre excluding its own next generation. Kinda like this one.

I honestly don't know why people are saying FPS shooters have been so dominant this gen. The only BIG FPS's I can think of are Call of Duty and Halo and maybe Battlefield. I guess people just look at the best selling series of the generation and say that its genre dominates the gen.
Anyways, I would assume something that takes advantage of the power of next gen console. Maybe a MMO, or RPG/Action-Adventure game in a massive world.

From what we've heard, Wii U's online would be more receptive to MMOs as we know them than LIVE, and at least as much so as PSN. Decentralized online is built for MMO cross-compatibility, especially since MMOs always have their own little demands that don't fit in with the more generalized umbrella networks (though again we're really singling out LIVE for incompatibility)

Its going to be probably either
A) Motion controls, as much as "core" gamers like to complain about them they aren't going anywhere fast
B) FPS. Its quite simply the easiest of all genres to make into a large scale competitive game. People are always going to want to compete with each other online so shooters aren't going anywhere.
C) MMO. I have a feeling next-gen both Sony and MS are going to pursue creating large scale MMO's for their consoles. They've seen the success of WOW and there is nothing remotly similar on home consoles, trust me they see how much a company can make off a good subscription MMO and they are going to be interested in seeing similar sales.
It really depends on how it all plays out but I think all 3 of those will be contenders for biggest genre.
