I'd say in hindsight I really enjoyed only about half of what the game had to offer, with the less original parts being a bit of a chore imo. The water temple (3rd temple if I remember correctly) is the first time I really started loving the game. Snow temple is fantastic too, as well as the temple of time. Some of the story parts during the middle of the game are also well done, and feature memorable characters in my opinion, but overall I still think the game would have benefited from being cut in half, more or less, having the remaining parts receive more focus and depth.
The huge size of the game is for me the main reason I haven't wanted to replay it yet, despite finishing the game several years ago. I may get into it again eventually, I don't know.
Until you've played it, every game is a system seller!

Nope, it doesn't. More like dusk or dawn. |
I don't get it. Why is "fall" in "Woodfall" supposed to imply wetness? Rain?? I would imagine a lot of downed trees etc., old mossy stuff.

My advice to fanboys: Brag about stuff that's true, not about stuff that's false. Predict stuff that's likely, not stuff that's unlikely. You will be happier, and we will be happier.

I have the most epic death scene ever in VGChartz Mafia. Thanks WordsofWisdom!
I'm playing through TP now again and I forgot how much I love this game. I think the opening hour is slow, but that is more than made up by the rest of the game IMO.

Twilight Princess is a very slow game. But once you ehh, this video explains it much better than I do.
skip to 6:50 if you are pressed for time.
Yes you're the only one hating on Zelda.... asshole -.-
But seriously just play through the first dungeons and it will get better especially towards the end
The game picks up a lot in the second half.
The main things that brings down the first half aside from the very, very, very slow opening are the wolf segments. If it weren't for those, I'd enjoy the first half much more because the dungeons are simply very good, and I felt the progression was pretty epic otherwise.
TP probably has the slowest pacing in the series, but it also has some of the best dungeons and the pacing certainly does not majorly hurt the game, IMO. I don't know if the game is savage-able for you at this point, but all I can say is I agree to some degree with certain things, but disagree that it's anything less than a great game.
oh you are not alone, it had its moments but by the end of the sky temple I was in a state of confused rage.
Why would you do it Nintendo, why...
Well, though the game gets better afterwards, Twilight Princess was kind of a disappointment for me in the regards the OP points out:
unsurprising, boring and slow paced first hours, non charismatic NPCs. I just played A link to the past, Ocarina of Time, Majora's Mask, Wind Waker and Twilight Princess and the last one was the worst of them all in my experience.
First off, I got the Gamecube version. I imagine it would get old pretty quickly, using the Wii motion controls (awesome and new at the time). Anyway, the series was accused of "blowing its wad" early by showing much of the good stuff in the beginning (I don't have a link or a quote. I just remember reading it somewhere.). With Twilight Princess, Nintendo learned a thing or two about pacing. It gets better. Then, it gets even better. After a while, you wonder how the game keeps getting better with every new dungeon and eventually, you ejaculate all over yourself (or maybe that was just me?).
By the time I reached the dungeon where I got the spinning top accessory, my new 360 was gathering dust and my Gamecube was the center of attention. Yeah, it starts slow and people unfairly compared it to the memory of Ocarina of Time (those same people are probably realizing that TP is the better game now that they're playing OoT 3D on the 3DS). If you're a fan of the Zelda series, prepare for the series' finest hour, in my opinion. If you're one of those Call of Duty/Madden gamers that thinks they're so hardcore but can't complete Super Mario Bros. 1 on the Nes if their lives depended on it, sell your copy now.
