Capcom has been releasing a hefty amount of details about its Resident Evil franchise, which is set to receive quite a lot of new titles this year and in 2012.

Among them, we won't find a full pledged sequel, as the Japanese company still hasn't revealed anything concrete about a possible Resident evil 6

This didn't stop Capcom producer Masachika Kawata from talking with a Spanish website, via RelyOnHorror, and saying that the next game will be a complete renovation of the whole franchise.

"The series will see a complete renovation with the next entry on every level. But we can’t forget about all the previous entries that have led to the creation of many possibilities for the franchise," Kawata said.

He went on to say that while the new game will thoroughly overhaul the franchise up until now, many things haven't even been decided by the development team, so it's still too early to tell.

"I can’t say if we’re going to make it (Resident Evil 6) survival horror or a shooter, but I can say that it’ll be totally different."


In my honest opinion i have lost all hope in another decent survival horror from capcom, Why they Don't just go back to their roots i dont know, the perfect formular is right there we don't need reboots!Resident evil 4-5 were good action shooters but they were the poorest of the resident evil horror franchise, They completeley changed what it was about because they were trying to please a different audience,(true begining) resident evil fans didn't want the developers to change the game to suit a western audience we liked it for what it was!!

My Ideal Resident evil 6

Main Character- Billy Coen
Why? Not and over used character like chris and leon, Chris turned into a mishapen human and Leon has been over used in their games/films in RE2,4,gaiden mobile phone games and degeneration, Billy Coen is a breath of fresh air, my second choice would be Barry.

Another city in the US or possibly for a change the UK as Billy left being a wanted "criminal". It would also have to be set at night time for obvious reasons no more days time events like in 4-5, camera angles and controls, back to the origional 1-3 and cx set camera angles so you have to walk into a room further even though you can't see the monsters you can only hear them

Now as much as i Dislike 4-5 compare to the rest of the series it has bought some new ideas to the table, but i have ideas that can input them better into a traditional resident evil game

Weapon modding Exellent idea bought to Resident evil but the way it works needs to change, you should have to find the parts needed to upgrade the gun, rather than finding zombie gold and buying parts from some guy armed to the teeth that just seems to follow you throughout the game....because that makes it seem a whole lot easier, instead after finding the parts there should be work stations about where you make these upgrades yourself

Enemies Zombies.....pure and simple None of this nonsense in 4-5, a tyrant/nemesis, dogs

just make them like 1 again 4 and 5 were cool and 4 def had some scary parts, but re1 and re2 were pretty amazing. just make everything simpler again like they were and it should all work.

And this is why I think you all should go out and get Dead Space 1 AND ESPECIALLY Dead Space 2 because they definitely are at the helm of survival horror. I lost faith in RE as a survival horror series after 3. 4 on the Wii and PS2 were fun (especially on Wii) but it was no longer really horror imo.

They seem to be going in the right general direction with Revelations, which is to step back from the brink of being a full-on action TPS that RE5 was

Really, what they should be looking at is what the new Tomb Raider is doing, except with far less platforming emphasis.

RE never needed a reboot. RE4 is a fine action game. but a lame sulvival horror. i really hope this series returns to the old formula from RE3. this used to be my best series together with FF.

Meh, doesn't matter wa they choose, a lot of people will be dissapointed anyway, might as well go for the biggest public possible.

Resident evil was rebooted?

4-5 as over the shoulder action shooters didnt seem a reboot to you?

I enjoyed Resident Evil 4 and 5, but these games were not really "Resident Evil Games" in my opinion ...

The switch to better controls took a lot of tension out of the game, and the change in viewpoint made the game less atmospheric; and, as a result, it stopped being a horror game and became a third person shooter.

I would like to see them revive the horror in their games without having them go back to the orignal awful control scheme

The worst thing they could do is go back to the (terrible) old formula. Honestly, I don't know why people hate change and innovation so much.
