Excellent!
You American people needs to install homebrew channel!
Perhaps that's what you have to tell Reggie & Co; that American gamers are forced to hack their Wii's to truly enjoy their consoles.

Yeah, I already said that the industry's current direction is wrong. It's confusing me that your replies are framed in a way that implies we are in disagreement despite saying the same exact things. The industry dislikes the new people coming into gaming. Why so, that's hard to say. Maybe because it would mean that they have to make games that aren't entirely for themselves. Maybe because these new people can't be influenced and even brainwashed through the gaming media like the established so-called hardcore gamers. |
My misunderstanding then. I thought you said that if there were more people gaming then the industry would 'wisen up' and make more kinds of games, here:
"Yes, the industry is moving in the wrong direction. Blockbusters and shovelware without much of a middleground.
This is why it's necessary to expand the gaming population. The more people, the more probable it is for more different types of games to be successful and with that the middleground can return."
and that's why I said that having a bigger audience is no guarantee that they will do such a thing, since as you say they don't seem to care enough about the newcomers.
Glad we agree.

Okay, I see where the misunderstanding came from. The second paragraph was a follow-up to the mindset of the Malstrom people that different games than are made now take priority. That's the prerequisite to expand gaming in the first place. The industry has to make the first step, not the customers by buying based on promises that never take fruition (like all those third party tests on the Wii). |
I see. But to an extent this is already being done by games like Nintendogs, Brain Training, Prof. Layton, Dance games and others. So maybe the disappointment stems from the fact it's not happening faster? Or maybe there weren't enough follow-ups to these kinds of games?
(I mean follow-up in the sense that Layton is a follow up to brain training, not in the sense that imagine horsez is a follow up to Nintendogs)

True...it seems almost pointless to me too but...thats what I read LOL.
Maybe they think they lost support of the "Core Gamer" and by releasing these games around the Wii U launch they will show the "Core Gamer" that they are back to being "Core" and that will cause the "Core" to have hope and faith in the Wii U.
LOL...I don't know.

then they should release these games sooner rather than later, IMHO

If used right, you can do a lot of cool stuff with homebrew and without piracy, but there´s a reason why Nintendo always removes it with every update. |
I own shares too.
“When we make some new announcement and if there is no positive initial reaction from the market, I try to think of it as a good sign because that can be interpreted as people reacting to something groundbreaking. ...if the employees were always minding themselves to do whatever the market is requiring at any moment, and if they were always focusing on something we can sell right now for the short term, it would be very limiting. We are trying to think outside the box.” - Satoru Iwata - This is why corporate multinationals will never truly understand, or risk doing, what Nintendo does.
