"What happened to third party games?", that's a good question. At last year's E3 we got a huge list of confirmed franchises making an appearance on the 3DS, but at this year's E3 we didn't really get to see much of these projects. Makes me wonder how far into development these titles are.

Rol I Xxpect you of all people not to fall for that - Those huge "we are on board" List Hardware manufacturers use are a trick, All those games are not indevelopment, just Idea's of future games assuming Hardware sells well. Final Fantasy Tentative Title, Sonic Tentative Title( SEGA even admitted just being in the idea phase) , Castlevania Tentative Title.... not real(yet)

you do know they are making a Sonic generations for 3DS??

I gotta know more about that bit.trip saga one of the few exclusive series i enjoy on Wii, so it must be good

Hmm about 3 months in, and I have 6 games with one coming next week. I don't see what the deal is. By the way the games I own are some of the better games on the 3DS.
Ridge Racer, Steel Diver, Pilotwings Resort, Street Fighter, DOA, and Zelda.

Someone up their made a comparison of the 3DS Nintendo release, and what Sony was doing this year. He does have a point, but I think even Sony would love to only release 4 games. If those 4 games sold as much as 10 games. Which is exactly is what's going to happen. Super Mario, and Mario Kart alone. In life time sales will out sale every game that Sony release this year. So why do more when you can do less, and do even better?

There's a slight difference, maybe the title is a bit misleading, LOL.

I meant the must-have's, ones that you really wanted.

Ridge Racer, Steel Diver, Pilotwings Resort, Street Fighter 4 and DOA. All of those I would qualify them as like-to-have.

I do have 3 titles though.

Mercenaries is a must have for me... Getting it as soon as it's released.

There's more than enough games to last 3DS users until Christmas

Well, not all users.

For me personally, the games that come out this year are enough. But others who play more might feel differently.

I understand that, but people on here make it seem that a console needs at least 2 releases from a mega-franchise every month for it to be good

The 3DS has next to nothing, by comparison the PS3 get at least one title worthy of 'note' per month even during the dry summer period.  During the holidays it will get silly amounts of games, while the 3DS will still only get a select few.

How is this (just until September):

  • Resident Evil: Mercenaries
  • Bit.Trip Saga
  • Pacman & Galaga Dimensions (contains Pacman Championship edition which is pretty good)
  • Cave Story 3D
  • James Noir's Hollywood Crimes (this game looks kind of interesting to me)
  • Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor Unlocked
  • Doctor Lautrec and the Forgotten Knights (this one also looks pretty good)
  • Driver: Renegade
  • Starfox 64
  • Crush 3D
  • Harvest Moon: the tale of two towns
  • Pinball Hall of Fame: The Williams Collection

next to nothing?

Currently Playing: Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor Overclocked, Professor Layton and the Curious Village

Anticipating: Xenoblade, The Last Story, Mario Kart 7, Rayman Origins, Zelda SS, Crush3D, Tales of the Abyss 3DS, MGS:Snake Eater 3DS, RE:Revelations, Time Travellers, Professor Layton vs. Ace Attorney, Luigi's Mansion 2, MH TriG, DQ Monsters, Heroes of Ruin

Exactly!

I also already have 4 retail titles and 4 download games. I haven't bought so many games for any console in the first months.

Need something off Play-Asia? http://www.play-asia.com/

I had totally forgot about SMT: DS Overclock. It still isn't announced for Europe. Damn region locking. I could always import the DS original, but they are rather expensive.

I .... DON'T ..... KNOW...... its a good question lol

I think Nintendo is purposely holding third and first party titles back till this fall/winter. With lack luster sales of 3DS Nintendo doesn't want to waste its big guns before the arrival of Sony's PSVita. Nintendo needs to counter Vita and lets face it anyone wanting a 3DS will buy one with or without the software. Nintendo wants to convince consumers who might choose Vita that Nintendo is the best option. Best way to do that, release all the killer apps and third party content right alongside Sony's release.

I think had 3DS sold off the shelves at launch and kept selling steadily. Then Nintendo and third party titles would be coming out on a regular basis. But due to the lack of sales Nintendo has to plan more strategic launches that best match the competition!

Must haves for me are SMT:Overclock and Starfox

By now you’ve probably seen the UK 3DS release day games. So how long will you have to wait for the next batch of games? Just 7 days. Nintendo have said they don’t want there to be a dry spell of new games and it looks like we won’t get one either, well not until week 3 at least.

Using games with japan only confirmed releases along with games like pacman?  Come on...

It's an oversight that I didn't mention, it's for NA releases.
