Forums - Sony - Valkyria Chronicles 3 won't see a US release [Rumor]

Today, I bring some sad news, the 3rd Valkyria Chronicles game will never see the light of day in the United States. It was first asked on Sega on Twitter, and they responded saying that Valkyria Chronicles 3 will not be at E3 and that there has been no announcement for a stateside release. A fan of Phantasy Star Online Portable asked Sega if they will release the game in the United States and here is his paraphrase of Sega's response:

"As much as I would love to see an English release of Infinity, SEGA West is currently not looking at further PSP development. Games like PSPo2 and Valkyria Chronicles 2 did not sell nearly as well as we had hoped that they would. Also, we all have to take into account the heavy amount of piracy that plagues the West. It may happen at some point, but there are currently no plans for it. " (Link)

There you have it, Sega will not be releasing Valkyria Chronicles 3 because the second game did not sell as much as they would like and that the prevalence of piracy makes it hard to make a profitable game on the PlayStation Portable. I would like to explain further as to why it happened, but frankly I am just upset that the game is not getting released in the USA. You can try contacting SEGA to do what Tales fans were successfully able to do with Namco (as in getting Tales of Graces F and Tales of the Abyss 3DS stateside), but success stories like that are far and in between. The best hope for the franchise is to hope for a PS Vita release, and the chances of that are very slim to none.

Once again, it's just a rumor, but I wouldn't be surprised if it comes true since VC2 didn't sell well; the game was generic anime cliche with filler missions, repetitive maps and horrible cast & story. VC3 sounded promising though since it was going to be more like VC1. This also means no Yakuza PSP :(

So bring it back to PS3 where it should have stayed!?

Sega blew it with the Valkyria Chronicles franchise anyway.

They should have either made it for the PSP from the start or continue on the PS3.

A PSP remastered version for the PS3 could redeem the franchise.

Can't really blame them. The PSP is dead as shit outside of Japan.

I do blame them for putting Valkyria Chronicles on the PSP at all after the success of the original on the PS3, though. Stupid Sega!

This is what they get for making the franchise onto the PSP, instant bomb in the west. I agree with badgenome, they should have made it for the ps3.

Totally sucks, just when I started like Sega again for Yakuza releases.

So this means: No 7th Dragon, no sequel to 7th dragon (PSP game), no Yakuza PSP game, and no Valkyria Chronicles 3 reaching state side.  Good job Sega....good job.

atleast put it on psn

well atleast put in on the PSN or PS Vita...Sega had a good franchise on their hands but it seems they want to bury it, still can't get over how they jumped ship to the PSP...not a wise decision imo

Thank you f......ing pirates. Seriously if you are a psp owner there is no reason why you should not go out and buy part 2. Granted SEGA screwed up by putting the VC sequels on the psp when they already had a good engine going and good sales on the PS3

Make games, not war (that goes for ridiculous fanboys)

I may be the next Maelstorm or not, you be the judge http://videogamesgrow.blogspot.com/  hopefully I can be more of an asset than a fanboy to VGC hehe.

Chalk another one up for an import... and another fail for pirates.
