Forums - Gaming - Duke Nukem gets an extremely rare 0/10 review.

I don't have any expectations for this game so I wonder if I'd enjoy it. I think most people had really high expectations and they just didn't make it.

Lol. Haven't played it, but I doubt it deserves and F either.

I mean, really:
"Remember the kidnapped women in the second episode of Duke 3D? They're back, but this time they scream in a combination of pain and ecstasy as they're raped and impregnated. Two of them -- who had given Duke oral sex earlier in the game -- beg him not to dump them and promise to "lose the pregnancy weight." The player can then choose to kill them on the spot or watch them scream as they suffer a painful death -- exploding with their alien babies. Throughout the rest of the level, Duke encounters women in a similar state and is offered the same terrible choice: kill them on the spot or face the alien spawn. Dispatching the woman prompts Duke to quip, "They're not human anymore.""

How can that be an F? :P

Wtf? That sounds like something out of a bad hentai movie...

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

Now I want the game even more :D

Yeah I started playing it and the game is nauseating, there is no better word. It insults your intelligence in a way no game I played managed to so far, and it deserves to be thrown into a fiery pit and forgotten, alongside the whole franchise. Duke Nukem aged like shit and we don't need it anymore,

Misleading thread title!!!!

F /=/ 0

An F < 25 percent so they just posted the article as 0/10. I could have said 1 or 2 out of ten but it would not have made the review any better. The only thing misleading was the sub-par review itself.

I am sorry the review is correct, and the reviewer is correct for giving this game that score. There are two reasons a game like this will get shoved into this hole. The first reason has been sighted, and is fairly well understood by most of you. The second reason is that a game is obscene. I think it is becoming quite clear that this game is nauseating to the reviewers. That the content is so purely evil that it is causing emotional damage. Once you feel this way about any thing you have a primordial response to protect others from being exposed.

This game is simply toxic, and the reviewers are labeling the bottle as such. Good for them having the conviction to do the right thing. You guys are arguing that if the parts work it should be rated higher, but what they are arguing is who cares if the entire thing is drenched in radioactive waste. They have a point what good is playing a game that is playable mechanically if the trade off is being exposed to truly vulgar content.

Guys take the hint it isn't a subtle one. This game is simply reprehensible, and there is no reason to put up with that in the first place for a mediocre shooter. This isn't about a rogue reviewer. Most of them would be giving this game less if they thought they could get away with it. This reviewer is just high enough up the food chain that he doesn't have to hold back.

Anyway the Duke is in some pretty heady company now. Games that obscene their way into the pit are truly very few indeed. The last game that I can recall managing this was Manhunt 2 original version. That one was so awful it had to be pulled back for a needed censorship sweep.

are you for real ??? is he for real ????

there is absolutely no justification for censorship.... EVER.... there is ratings for that with detailed content.... if you don't like it don't buy it.... but don't try to impose your views and opinion on other like I don't want and have no right to do with you.... even if it is pure enriched uranium and risks to litteraly fry my brain I'm still entitle to access it if it is legal by any current laws and I want to do so..... censorship is the dumbest idea mankind has come up with and is the root of so much evil accross the glob....

damn...this game has gone from "most anticipated game of the decade" to "worst game ever"

I was kinda looking forward to this as some pushback against the forces of political correctness. Think I'll skip it for now. I just don't feel like making the choices in Farmageddon's quote.

In the academic sense an F used to mean anything below 49. Not sure what it means now or on meta. Nothing playable deserves below 50 imo and since no game can achieve perfection they shouldn't be handing out 100s either. This seems like someone pushing an agenda.

Agreed that game rating is increasingly about site hits and creating controversy. It really seems to be getting worse. I've said it before but maybe Metacritic should throw out the top and bottom scores. Give links but not post the actual text? Ikd. I can understand a gut reaction but love and hate shouldn't be involved in what's supposed to be a professional exercise.

0/10 is really harsh.

A 0 should really only be for a game so full of bugs/glitches that has a framerate of like 5 and freezes every 10 minutes.

I don't know how it gets a 5.5 on IGN but a 0 here.

If F is a 59 or lower then that's in line with many other reviews.
