I think a lot of people are seriously overestimating the cost of the parts that will go into making one of these controllers.

It's not a standalone device; it has no CPU, GPU, system RAM, etc.

Beyond having the basic internals of the current Wii Remote Plus (less than $10 worth of components), the LCD display (maybe a $20/sub $20 part), the touch screen interface (resistive; low cost), about the only other components will be the signal processor and related components that relay AV/player input signal to the console itself; not expensive parts.

Isnt there also a camera and rumble as well

If you don't want to take a stab at about how much the camera costs in the Wii U controller, I'll tell you right now that all three cameras in the 3DS cost under $5 (iSuppli). All of the components in the Wii Remote (and the shell) total less than $10.

Thats fine and all but I was just pointing out that you were leaving out components.   Also I highly doubt the LCD screen is going to be only $20,  the PSP screen is about that much, and its smaller and doesnt have multitouch.

Actually I saw a video a guy testing the Zelda tech demo and showed that the controller is multitouch. (Well, he was touch 2 different points at the same time and the controler recognized)

the link was posted in one those thread about wii U

The Wii U controller screen is not muti-touch:

It looks rather expensive...probably going to be 100 bucks

GAF estimated they can manufacture the controller for around $50 or so.

People see a screen on the controller and think just because of that it will be really expensive.

The iPad uses a bigger and better screen and it costs apple around $70 to make.

and how much do you think something that costs 50$ to manufacture retails for ?

This is not a console where retailers forego their margin in exchange to access to the lucrative software and accessories market...

PS3-Xbox360 gap : 1.5 millions and going up in PS3 favor !

PS3-Wii gap : 20 millions and going down !

That's not the point. Since the beginning people have been saying it would cost $100 or $200.

Nintendo could sell it cheaper than that.

kinect cost around the same price to produce yet look at what price it's sold for

Bet reminder: I bet with Tboned51 that Splatoon won't reach the 1 million shipped mark by the end of 2015. I win if he loses and I lose if I lost.

They will problably try to make it cost as low as possible, so I'll go with $70 or below.

Above: still the best game of the year.

I don't see it cheap IMO.
+$100

simple economics.

If it costs 50$ to make the lowest they can sell it without loosing money is probably  around 90$ if Nintendo doesn't make any profit on it.

I did some research and the average profit margin at retailers for gaming accessories is 40-50%, you do the maths...
