Forums - Nintendo - All right gamrConnect, we're going to play Zelda games together!

I continued with TP yesterday and played it for 5 hrs at least. Since I didn't remember a lot of things, instead of going to the castle after getting the master sword I explored Hyrule. Found lot of heart pieces, bugs and poes. How many poes are there?

I noticed I'm enjoying more the exploration now that the Twilight zones are gone, I never really liked them they were boring imo.

So, I just put in a few more hours of play on OoT 3D and am currently in Dodongo's Caverns and am getting a bit frustrated. Not that the game itself is hard but there are some parts with horrible camera angles. Plus the targeting system sucks so much balls. Targets wont register until their almost striking distance with the sword which makes it useless. not to mention that once it does kick in the fire bats are already striking distance also. Almost all of the occasions wherein i get damaged by enemies are due to the crappy targeting system and the horrible camera angles. Its a real shame though as this seems like such a nice game but due to the crappy targeting and occasional crappy camera angle this game went fro AWESOME to just Great for me.

It has been a long time since I played OoT, but I remember having very few issues with the targeting system.  As I recall, it locked on to even the flying things at a pretty far distance.  Maybe they changed something on the 3DS version?

I would say it is quite dated now, but I will also say ils411's issues seem a little extreme, I also can't say I had much trouble with the targeting system. Certainly not back then when I first played it (wasn't OoT the first game to use a z-targeting system like that?) but it can be a little clunky now... I certainly noticed the difference when I moved from OoT to Windwaker about a month ago, and although Twilight Princess reverts back to a very similar system (due to me having the Wii version) I would say it is improved, OoT is a little clunky.

Unless the 3DS version has changed for some reason (not sure why Nintendo would do something drastic though) perhaps ils411 hasn't realised you can move the camera where you want by walking and tapping Z (or I presume the L-trigger in the 3DSs case) As for not targeting far away things, I can't think what would cause that, though you can change the method of targeting between hold and switch (with hold you have to hold the L-trigger to target 1 enemy, and let go and re-press quickly to switch between multiple targets... while with switch you can just press L once to target a single enemy, and press it again to switch to the next target if there are multiples)

That's because this game invented the Lock On which is now used in so many third person games. The textures and skins may have been updated, but the game's programming was left intact.

There are 60 poe souls.

The Twilight zones are boring, because you have no freedom to do anything besides hunting light bugs. You are in huge areas, but are heavily restricted to complete one certain task which is the exact opposite of what you want in a Zelda game.

Exactly! I put more hours today, currently in Gerudo's dungeon, and this game is freaking AMAZING!!!

Really, after the twilight zones this game seriously improves a lot, I'm enjoying every moment of it and it made me remember why I love this games so much. I can't believe I didn't play it more when I bought it in 2007 (I blame the f***g first 10 hours). Anyway, I only need one more bug to have all of them, I thought it would be a pain in the ass to collect them all but I'm glad it wasn't =D

Also, I can't believe I didn't watch Nintendo conference this year! Why nobody told me there was a Zelda Orchestra!?  =(
