it was a good surprise the first time I saw the ghost soldiers and their face (creepy face).

Started and finished A Link to the Past (VC). I can see now better why many claims ALTTP to be best than Ocarina of Time. The overworld is probably the best on the series (Hope SS is similar).

I have played before in GBA (FS Edition), but never care for the story. This time I do, and it's to me on par with OOT and TWW one. Is amazing anything about Aghanim, the seven maidens, Light and Dark World, the Golden Power. The puzzles are very good, and even when is not as hard as the first two, is more difficul than any 3D Zelda game.

Dodongo's Cavern in the Master Quest. I did Master Quest only once, but one of the puzzles came back to me.

I lost my Deku Shield over a red-herring, a diabolically designed room with Mad Deku Scrubs (requiring use of the Deku Shield) and a Fire Keese

I also note that King Dodongo doesn't make a lot of sense. Here's a guy who can shake off an explosion in his inner organs without much trouble, but if you slash him on his upper jaw three-to-six times, oh dear

C'mon. Even a person wouldn't die if you hit them in the upper jaw six times with a small knife (as it scales against Dodongo)

First off, you suck for not equiping the Hylian Shield which you can find at the cementry. Secondly, you suck for not using the slingshot to get rid off the Deku Scrubs.

Thirdly, you suck for not realizing that King Dodongo doesn't die from the knife jabs. What actually happens is that you tickle him a few times and then he rolls into the lava out of laughter.

I always have the Hylian shield when i tackle Dodongo cavern, the free one from the graveyard, i just reequiped the Deku shield to engage the Mad Scrubs

I will accept the rebuke about the slingshot, though, i didn't know that worked on them.

You don't even need to use the slingshot. Mad Scrubs are slow enough for you to just walk up and wack them on the head with your sword.

In addition, there are at least two Deku shields to find in the Master Quest version of that dungeon, and a Hylian shield on top of that. I guess the designers didn't expect you to run back to Hyrule Market and get one, knowing that it (more than likely) wouldn't be the player's first run through the game.

Finished the Earth Temple. Great boss.

Just about at the end of Twilight Princess. I've been thinking more about the conceptual themes associated with each dungeon. The Arbiter's Grounds, for example, could be summed up as 'unearthing what is hidden.' The theme is applicable, on some level, to just about everything which happens in that temple; design, puzzle and story. The Temple of Time, on the other hand, communicates thoughts of balance, symmetry and a sense of recursion - perfectly in line with what we have been told about the way the goddesses judge merit, yes?

What then of the others? I like to categorize things based on themes or attributes

I would say the Forest Temple is about Link's relation to nature. The dungeon centers around elements which can be hostile and/or impeding (apes, wind) before being made useful.

The Goron Mines are a test, as Cor Goron says. They are literally about mastering oneself and one's (inanimate) environment. Fire is an old symbol of that kind of tribulation, of course.

The Lakebed Temple is mechanistic, even more so than the Goron Mines. There is very little you can do without its water-powered machinery. In a sense it is about control, but it is about being at the mercy of an alien force/construct. Also, water tends to be considered a passive element, but here it's power is truly made evident.

The Snowpeak Ruins are about relationships and trust in others. The "warmth" of the Yeti's friendship/love is contrasted with the "cold" hostility of the ruined mansion.

The City in the Sky is, I think, above all subversive of expectations. The contrast of the farcical Oocca - based on http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Another_World_(M._C._Escher) - the dilapidated state of their city, and the archetypal high-fantasy symbol, the dragon (technically a wyvern), is not coincidental, I think.

The Twilight Palace is relates the respective qualities of light and darkness, and illustrates that shadow is not diametrically opposed to either of them.

Hyrule Castle, as a dungeon, is a symbol of death and decadence. The melancholia of the place relates the game's overall theme of regret (the ghosts, King Bullblin).

tolu619: That's nice. I might post there later.

My thread for teaching VGC some Nigerian slangs

Went through Jabu Jabu. Cows, cows everywhere, and i think Barinade got faster

Now for sweet adulthood and the Biggoron's sword.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

Dropped back into my VC OoT playthrough, because I really needed to play some of a Zelda I thoroughly enjoy, rather than barely tolerate like both DS games have been. Was saved at the beginning of the adult portion of the Spirit Temple, so I've run through that and - like every other time I've played this game - had to circle back around because I lowered the platform before grabbing the boss key.

Once I'm done here and in Spirit Tracks I'll go for my first finished LttP playthrough. I've gotten pretty far before - once on a borrowed GBA version I hit the final dungeon, then I got my own copy and had to start over. I prefer the VC versions' controls, though, so I'll probably go with that. I think my saves are around the same place on each anyway.

OoT3DS froze on me today, right at the instant when i received the Poacher's Saw. Quite aggravating, because i had started my save at the very beginning of adulthood, so had to go back, get Epona again, get the Hookshot again, then do everything before the Poacher's Saw, and it went through the second time

Only the fourth time i've ever had freezing problems from Nintendo first-party software, the others being Brawl (online), Wii Sports (baseball for some reason), and Metroid Prime (my launch-day copy)
