Nice effect: the pseudo-surround on the 3DS system lets you clearly hear where the music is coming from in the Lost Woods, so you don't have to stop in order to listen.

I noticed that as well (been wearing headphones the whole time), and that makes it much easier to go around (even though I still used the "walk up slowly to the pathway until it lights up" tactic
).
Despite all the hoopola, the soundtrack holds up extremely well even by today's standards. Wonderful, just wonderful.
All right I can't seem to figure this out on my own.
How do I auto-roll when falling? I did it constantly in OoT but holding the stick in the direction I'm jumping just isn't doing it. I can roll by tapping A the instant I hit the ground. Is that what I'm supposed to do? It's different and I'm frightened by change!

You know i ran into that too, i just thought i wasn't jumping from a high enough spot...
A few notes from my play today:
1) Big Octo is harder than Barinade by a good stretch
2) That part at the very beginning of Jabu Jabu where you have to kill the Octorok at what otherwise is a dead end still tricks me
3) Caught the dying soldier. Rather morbid
4) On the morbid end, here's food for thought: All the Sages are Dead. It's a sobering fan-theory, and one that would be next to impossible to disprove: Saria goes "missing" in the temple. Darunia fought and lost to Volvagia. Ruto also gets "lost" after she meets with you initially. Impa is killed by Bongo Bongo, and Nabooru is just killed outright when the Witch Sisters reclaim her

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.
Just started my first Zelda as part of this thing - A link to the Past, got to 6 hearts, just got the Ice rod. Going to get the third pendant next.
In a slight panic though, I can't find my windwaker disc! I probably lent it to whomever I lent Mario Kart Wii to. 1st world problems :(
Bah, i forgot to get Epona's song, now i gotta play this stupid game the sucker way (that is, without Biggoron's sword) until Sheik will let me go back in time. Get the stupid horse song, do that rigged fucking race with Ingo, and then start playing the right way. I'm so flustered i got killed by Stalfos since i really don't know how to fight without the Biggoron's extra technique.
They damn well better let me go before the Water Temple, or there's no way i'm beating Dark Link

Rejoice with me; the water temple has been conquered. Life can go on again.
I didn't remember Morpha being that big of an ass-pain. It's not that it's deadly, it's just annoying trying to hit it.
But even still, I think the difficulty of it is pretty blown out of proportion. Definitely not as bad as Lakebed Temple.
But tell me something here: Is the Master Quest version of the WT even more tedious and devoid of fun than the regular?

Master Quest water temple was more straightforward, as i remember. It was only Shadow and Spirit that really spiked in difficulty

Good.
Also, I could swear they nerfed the Hell out of Dark Link in this remake; I literally killed him without incurring any damage with just the Master Sword and the Hylian Shield. But I don't know, maybe I've just gotten better. Let me know what you think when you fight him.
The Water Temple devoid of fun? Rubbish.
It and the Spirit Temple are by far my favorite dungeons in the game. Ignoring the superb music and atmosphere, the latter is a great final dungeon, combining elements of nearly all the previous ones, and the former is simply meticulous its design - there is nothing redundant about its progression, and there are no secrets which are not alluded to - you just have to keep your eyes open and remember what you've seen. The changes to the interface makes this particular dungeon flow much, much better. Aonuma's exploiting his role as producer for good purposes, it seems.
Dark Link is also one of the small but potent mysteries of the game. I like subtle details surrounding the fight; the way he is born from Link's reflection, the design of the arena (featuring the only traditional Japanese architecture in the series), the way he grows more solid as he takes damage, the fact that he has as much life as Link does...
On the other hand, The Shadow Temple might be my least favorite temple. Some creative uses of the Lens of Truth notwithstanding, I find it to be it is rather dull overall. I will admit Wallmasters and I do not quite agree on everything... Still, the temple itself is surprisingly short and easy. Either way, I'm glad it is over and done with.
