I noticed that as well (been wearing headphones the whole time), and that makes it much easier to go around (even though I still used the "walk up slowly to the pathway until it lights up" tactic 
).
Despite all the hoopola, the soundtrack holds up extremely well even by today's standards. Wonderful, just wonderful.
