Forums - Nintendo - Wii U Can Support Two Controllers, Pachter Says

Let's hope Patcher is right this time.

And I agree with Mr Khan, Nintendo should release it bundled with a game, but instead of a Wii Party game they should bundle it with a new Wario game. Just imagine the possibilities...

There will probably be third party wii u controllers

I suspect that Nintendo is using Bluetooth v3.0 HS or Bluetooth v4.0, but I can't find enough information on either to know whether either format could support multiple devices with the (expected) bandwidth requirements of the Tablet on a single antenna/router. I suspect they can, but even if they can't Nintendo could include a second antenna/router in the Wii U to support a second tablet.

Personally, I think that the technical issues aren't what is causing confusion ...

Initially the Wii was only going to have the Wiimote, but discussions with western developers (particularly Retro Studios) convinced Nintendo Japan that they needed the Nunchuck to be included with the system as a standard accessory. I suspect that Nintendo Japan envisioned 1 tablet per Wii U, and western developers are putting pressure on Nintendo to support at least 2, and Nintendo Japan will probably cave to their requests.

Im sure people will complain about not being able to have support for 4 controllers if true.....

you kidding man?? why the hell wouldnt people comlain?? The last 3 Ninty consoles supported 4 players and now this one only supports 1 or maybe 2 of their tablests?? Thats a step back no matter how you put it.

OT Reggie & Patcher donts seem to know what the hell they are talking about half the time. If Miyamota says the Wii U only supports one tablet for now, thats who im rolling with

Eeer?? 1 tablet (so far) and 4 wiimotes..... that's 5 players dude; and we all know 5>4 :) How is that a step back?

Now, picture a 2nd tables.... that would be [maybe] an extra 4 wiimotes.... are we talking 10 players at the time?? Who knows........

lets not kid ourselves here, they're trying to sell you on the tablet controller, the fact that they didnt even show the console at e3 proves this. The "revolutionary console and only one person can use it at a time??? Imagine if Wii woul only let you use one Wiimote and the rest had to use GC controllers, tell me that woul dnot suck

Besides a Wii, you have a PS3 if I recall correctly. Do you have Move? Whether you do or not, did you ever strongly attack Sony for Move "going a step back" since it allows only 2 players for local mutiplayer with the wireless nunchuk instead of 4 players? Did you even feel this was a step back?

Also, comparing playing WIiU with Wiimotes to playing Wii with GC controllers is not a correct analogy, the Wiimote is still a WiiU controller for all purposes and not something that will be sold only by specialty stores, as all demos demonstrate - it wasn't showcased because there is nothng new to show about it, that's all...  So going from local multiplayer with 4 wiimotes to local multiplayer with 4 wiimotes and even just one tablet controller is a step forward, not back.

They are trying to sell a concept and the possibilities of that controller right. There's still MORE than a year for launch, dont u think they are gonna show more? Remember the first time they showed the Wii? They showed just the controller, and the idea of motion games. That's what they did with the U table.

YOu are wrong.....a revolutonary console and 5 people can use it at a time, didnt u see the friking videos? I counted 5 players total, playing at the same time.... and there's still no confirmation if only 1 tablet is gonna be supported.

What dont you tell me about the move? how many players can play at the time with that thing? With the move/nav combo? Now that's a step back...

He will just say that the PS3 got move later on as an add on :P

People complain without knowing the reasons of why somebody did something the way they did it.

For me I am perfectly fine with one Wii U controller and 4 other WiiMotes but if they can add a second one then that would be nice as well.

In fact, i somehow hope for 4 controler support. no trolling, i just dreamed of playing Mario Kart with 4 players using this tablet-controlers.
You could play lying on the couch or sitting on a chair, in two groups or everyone on his own.
Wii could still play with 2 people using tablet and 2 people using the Tv split-screened, but why put down the hope?
Of course, i can see the problem regarding costs and probably streaming-bandwidth and processing power.
But why not let the consumer decide and support 4players, even with lower-quality graphics?
U shoud be able to decide, imo.

But then people would complain about that :P

I think the less console power is used the more U controllers can be used and Mario kart games tend to be les graphically impressive than other games.

At first people complained that it would be too expensive to buy three more Wii U controllers and thought the idea was bad. Then they said only one U controller could be used and people complained about that they could not have more than one U controller at a time.

So what ever you do people will complain :P

I know you will say “well it would have been nice if people had the option” and I do agree with you there

the good thing is that you can use a U controller and four Wiimotes and i think that is awesome!
