im not trying to crap on Wii U here, ive been excited to this point, but if it will truly only support one tablet at a time. What will motivate the casual Wii sport/Fit playing audience to upgrade??? They dont care about HD graphics as much and wouldnt they just stick to the Wii, if only one person can really benefit from the system???

People asked the same questions when the wii was first introduce (about the controller, the games, the support, the market they were aiming at, how nintendo was gonna attract costumers to the new concept....); Time passed and answers came up... so just be patient, and wait for more information .

fair enough, i still dont like the idea of just one console controller , but i hope and believe that Ninty will unscrew that

I dont like it either actually.... i love local multiplayer, i prefer it over online multiplayer. Hopefully they will allow at least 2 tablets simultaneously, but if they go up to 4, that would be just awesome. But 2 would be good enough, especially if each one can support 4 wiimotes.... that would be 10 players at the time... that's just insane!! i'd love to see a game that supports 10 players locally.

That I agree  with, two tablets are fine.

10 person local multi player would be insane on one console. 6- 8 will be good enough.

Just a question... what the screen resolution of the Wii U controller?

Well it depends, I'm sure some developers can come with great ideas for 10 players at the time, w/o being to hectic. It would be madness, but it can be awesome. 10 local multiplayer shooters maybe... 5 v 5? what about FIFA, 10 players in the same team, each controlling one player, while the keeper is on automatic? Imagine 10 people on Smash bros xD that would be just awesome! Of course u will need gigantic stages for that.....

I posted somewhere else that this could be a problem, just imagine an FPS on the Wii-u, i don´t know about any of you but i pictured glorious local multiplayer with each person playing on its own screen, making it a more fair experience ( you have to admit it, everyone looks at each others screen all the time on local mp ) and using the tv to display something else , like stats or maps or whatever they could come up.

But that would be impossible with only one tablet support per system, and don´t get me wrong, i´m excited as hell for this console but i´m worried that will be the case, and after all this talk about innovation...to what degree the consumer will be able to enjoy it?

i for one would be mad if me and my friends got together to play it and everybody gets stuck playing with just wii remotes, asimetrical play looks awesome and there are a lot of possibilities that could be explored, but as i said at the beginning of this post, they are limiting the experience, quite contradictory with what they are trying to sell.

So it's not that huge... it's fine to stream this resolution in 30fps... the Bluetooth 2.0 could stream more than 2 controller at the same time.

lets not kid ourselves here, they're trying to sell you on the tablet controller, the fact that they didnt even show the console at e3 proves this. The "revolutionary console and only one person can use it at a time??? Imagine if Wii woul only let you use one Wiimote and the rest had to use GC controllers, tell me that woul dnot suck

They are trying to sell a concept and the possibilities of that controller right. There's still MORE than a year for launch, dont u think they are gonna show more? Remember the first time they showed the Wii? They showed just the controller, and the idea of motion games. That's what they did with the U table.

YOu are wrong.....a revolutonary console and 5 people can use it at a time, didnt u see the friking videos? I counted 5 players total, playing at the same time.... and there's still no confirmation if only 1 tablet is gonna be supported.

What dont you tell me about the move? how many players can play at the time with that thing? With the move/nav combo? Now that's a step back...

What's revolutionary for the other 4 players though? Updated graphics?

Have a look at this gaf thread - http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=433006 (Wii U gameplay ideas). Some of these ideas are single player, but some are multiplayer, and imo "revolutionary" (as in game changing) also for those that don't have the controller.

That said, being able to support 2 controllers would be better since it would open even more possibilities, and I hope that it does support 2. As to 4, while in theory even better than 2, I believe that once the price tag of a standalone WiiU controller is announced, nobody will bother getting that many... (i wouldn't be surprised if it's $100 a piece...).

First I would like to agree it will be a much harder sell than the Wii, not because the concept is not beneficial to casual games as well, but because it is not as easy to grasp in a second.

That said, beyond some things I can't imagine but they apparently plan to do with Wii Fit and other casual franchises, games such as Pictionary and Mario Paint say hi. Yes there's THQ's Udraw for the Wii, but

1. THQ's Udraw won't be getting any Nintendo made games, and only THQ will develop games for it (if at all) since not everybody has one

2. The ability of the WiiU screen to get completely different input and thus the player holding it be able to hide information from everybody else makes this a much better fit for games like Pictionary than the Udraw.

Now if you add to that the fact that all their WIi games will work on the WiiU and all the controllers they bought (including even the balance board) will work on the WiiU, and you have a nice upgrade path...

Reggie said WiiU supports 2 tablets. We can give the "only one" a rest now?
