Forums - Nintendo - your Wii U predictions : How much ? When ?

400$, November 2012 in single territory March 2013 globally
They didn't even have working prototype at E3 and there were not even alpha builds to show software.
If they launch in 2012 it will have as dreadfull launch lineup as PS3 had.

It's obvious to me they are not ready for 2012 launch and only astronomical drop in Wii sales and 3DS rough start forced them to show it so early.

they've said that devs have had this for years, so i don't think they're that unprepared. PS3's poor launch lineup was in spite of its release date and not because of it, since it was later than the originally intended

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

November 2012, either $350 or $400 depending what the dollar does over the next year. Probably with a pack-in game that's more Wii Play than Wii Sports.

"[Our former customers] are unable to find software which they WANT to play."
"The way to solve this problem lies in how to communicate what kind of games [they CAN play]."

Satoru Iwata, Nintendo President. Only slightly paraphrased.

350 1 december 2012
the controller itself will be 150$ and by that time the wiiU will be able to handle two of these things

Bet reminder: I bet with Tboned51 that Splatoon won't reach the 1 million shipped mark by the end of 2015. I win if he loses and I lose if I lost.

Well I think that alot of factors will go into WiiU's launch. But given Nintendo's launch of 3DS I think Nintendo will likely follow that strategy.

I think Nintendo will launch WiiU globally in November/December 2012. Meaning probably in Japan early November, later in Europe with the United States following closely behind. December release for many remaining regions.

Nintendo will launch with about three first party titles. Pikmin3 will likely be among them. I'm betting a Mario title will be ready near launch if not launch day. The rumoured Pokemon title could also be a launch title. I think Nintendo might launch the WiiU with a more hardcore line-up then Wii. These three possible launch titles could really push WiiU. I also expect 7-10 third party titles to launch alongside Nintendo's first party titles.

For price I think that Nintendo will seek to price somewhere reasonable but not cheap. Not as high as PS3/360 launched but not as low as Wii. I suspect a 350$ price tag is likely given how expensive the controller is. I think  smaller internal memory and other corners Nintendo might cut will keep the price below 400$.

These are my predictions. If they are right then I will be purchasing WiiU with all three launch titles and day one here in Canada. Can't wait!

Man your being alittle pessimistic, its my job to be the pessimist...geez lol!

Anyways THQ said they have DarkSiders2 running on WiiU and that it only took them 5-weeks to get everything up and running on the WiiU and its new controller. Nintendo is giving developers another year at least to get software ready, I don't see how Nintendo would launch with fewer then 10 launch titles.

Look at UbiSoft just unvieling WiiU exclusive Killer Freaks From Outer Space. The game looks well developed and their is still a year left at least till launch. As Khan said many third parties have had early dev kits for rumoured up to three years. That is more then enough time to build several great games.

Also Nintendo didn't show any of their own software, infact they didn't even show the third party software. I don't think this was done because Nintendo lacked the software, that third parties didn't have anything. It was done strategically to keep the consoles power under raps. THQ even said they had DarkSiders running on WiiU yet Nintendo chose to show PS3 footage. Nintendo is purposely hiding the consoles power. I'm sort of suprised that Nintendo let UbiSoft show Killer Freaks From Outer Space!

Nintendo will have plenty of software ready for launch next year!

Nintendo REALLY likes November release dates. I'm going to go with November 2012 at $299, and yeah, Pikmin 3 will be a launch title.

I was also thinking November, and 3 Ben Franklins sounds like a good amount

Edit: oh i forgot the controller was includedd. Now i would say 350-400

Been away for a bit, but sneaking back in.

If devs had it for so long where was footage of real games running on actual dev-kit?
