Forums - Nintendo - Dual Analog FPS on WiiU?

There have been a bunch of videos off the E3 floor and one was a guy playing Ghost Recon with the new controller.  The use of the controller was interesting but he was using a control stick to aim. I cringed.

I love my Wiimote with FPS. Heck I even built my own gun with wicked button placement.

Anyone see any info on Wiimotes still being an option?

I saw the same video of Ghost Recon and all I can say is:
F.A.I.L

If Nintendo don't make dual controls mandatory they are kicking themselves in the nuts.

Until you've played it, every game is a system seller!

Yes, all wiimotes are compatible, there is even a new Zapper coming with the U controller as an additional hub/screen

if you are referring to the information under "system details", then all that says is that the console supports wiimotes... it doesn't say all games will.

Furthermore, some of the information there conflicts with the recent Iwata asks interview, in which it is said that regular wiimotes won't work with WiiU.

Other Controls: Up to four Wii Remote™ (or Wii Remote Plus) controllers can be connected at once. The new console supports all Wii™ controllers and input devices, including the Nunchuk™ controller, Classic ControllerTM, Classic Controller ProTM and Wii Balance Board™.

Come on gumby, it's just like the Wii, of course there will be software made just for the motion plus and other's made for the standard wiimote. They are giving developers all the options.

It'd be best to force people to upgrade to motion plus, but instead of a hardware limitation let them do it with software (still want more motion plus games).

If you want to know if a certain game uses Wiimotes wait until the publisher/developer announces it. Its probably WiiU games that can't use non M+ Wiimotes, since WiiU can play Wii games it wouldn't make sense if it couldn't use normal Wiimotes for Wii games that don't use M+.

@Gumby

I agree with you that the pointer is really nice for FPS and it should be mandatory for Wii U games... Unfortunately I don't think that'll happen as the control options will be centered around the new controller. Pointer controlls probably won't ever be a standard.

I agree with you that Wii games will most likely still work with regular wiimotes. Regarding everything else, I think you're missing the point of the thread. If you look at the video in question on youtube, it just seems like a huge step backwards...
