They haven't really shown off the PSV's motion sensing capabilities in that sense. They've shown cross-platform multiplayer, yes, but nothing directly linking the two consoles like that.
On a side note, let's agree never to call it Vita. Ever. It's the PSV.

I expected that much after reading your first paragraph 
I would say that cost, simplicity and battery life would favour the Nintendo solution. I don't think the Wii U will launch at $399.

how do you arrive at that conclusion? when did nintendo or sony annonuce the battery life of either device? furthermore how does simplicity factor in?
Well, Konami mentioned in their conference they have plans to make all (their) PS3 games streamable to the Vita. So who knows.

how many controllers have had a screen, microphone, etc built in? it technically has all of the features of the ngp except that it has a larger screen and has to stream hd content without lag ( which must mean it uses more power ) i don't see how its dumb to reason that it would use more power and therefore it may not have more battery life
furthermore you never answered how its the simpler solution?

No it doesn't... It's single touch and only a front screen. NGP has 2 multitouch surfaces.
