Forums - Sony - SCEA Introduce Papo & Yo for PSN

"Hello everyone! I’m the Creative Director at Minority, a small independent team of game creators based in Montreal. It’s my great pleasure to today reveal our first title, Papo & Yo, which we are bringing to the PlayStation Network next year thanks to the support of SCEA’s Pub Fund.

Quico, our young hero, is a boy who lives in the Favelas in South America. His best friend and protector is Monster, a large beast that loves Quico. But Monster is addicted to frogs, and when he eats them he is transformed into an evil killing machine, his fury pushing him to destroy everything that is around him — including Quico. Quico’s only chance for survival is to find a way to cure his best friend."

Looks interesting. Also first I have heard of this "Pub Fund"

I really love that this game stems from his experience with an abusive father, it's kind of like how a children's book would deal with a tough subject like alcohol abuse. I'll definitely have to check this out at E3, hope the gameplay matches what I'm liking so far with the story/setting. Seems to be puzzle based so I guess it just depends how good the puzzles are.

...

Has my interest so far.

I believe the Pub Fund is referring to a program SONY started a while back where they'll pay for PSN development of exclusive games for smaller devs or something like that.

4 ≈ One

What the heck is the Pub Fund? Is this for charity?

This looks very serious for a PSN game, I'd love to hear more.

I hate the current global trend of Rio de Janeiro & Favelas(like it's a cool thing...).

What's wrong with showing a little Rio? I haven't played many games with that setting. As a matter of fact aside from Fast 5, the only other movie I saw with Rio was Incredible Hulk with Rickson Gracie cameo and Ed Norton.

OT: I do find it interesting and it caught my eye on the visuals side.

Make games, not war (that goes for ridiculous fanboys)

I may be the next Maelstorm or not, you be the judge http://videogamesgrow.blogspot.com/  hopefully I can be more of an asset than a fanboy to VGC hehe.

Cute and interesting. I'll keep an eye on it.

Papo & Yo almost sounds like "Papi y yo" which means "Daddy and me"
