A lot of people are going to get stuck between wanting Wii numbers high and not wanting it to be proven, once again, that price really does matter!

HD twins quite close, Japan tilts the PS3 to the winning side but not by much, finally a good Wii week, its been a while since the last one. 3DS keeps getting pounded, even by a handheld deemed dead for a long time, that can't be good.

Wow good turn around for the Wii and nice seeing it get a second wind under it. Should help keep sales decently healthy till Project Cafe releases.

And 360 and PS3 are soooo close WW right now, it will be really interesting to see who has the momentum coming out of E3 and how it will affect sales.

And L.A. Noire is already a million seller on both platforms as well as Kinect Adventures officialy crossing 10 million on VGchartz numbers.

Great Wii numbers but I find it likely that they will be adjusted down in the future (heck, has it even got the adjustment it needed after the quarterly numbers?).

GT5 doing well and awesome LA Noire numbers. Why does America not buy proper PC games like EMEAA?

I am curious to see what NPD shows as well for this big time Wii bump.

As for the adjustment question. Are VGC Wii sales up until March 2011 still above what Nintendo shipped? I believe this was the original issue and why people claim it may still be 500k or so overtracked.

I think pezus may end up being right.  As for the adjustment for lifetime sales, I do believe it was adjusted, as now it's below 86 mil up until March.  ~85.7 mil.

Was not expecting that huge increase in Americas for Wii the second week of the price cut there. Props where they're due for that.

Nor was I. But, the same thing happened in the UK. Maybe it's all down to advertising? Or people saying 'it's only £99. I'll give it a go.'

I think it could be the public's mindset. It's £99, somehow much better value than £100, so it's worth I punt

Maybe. Or maybe Brian Blessed is the best thing to happen to Nintendo's ads

Here lies the dearly departed Nintendomination Thread.

gratz to the wii, much better numbers than i expected.  i didn't think americas would jump up again on the second week.  now the wii is only down by ~9.5% YoY.  :P

Wii price cut must have had more advertisment last week than the week before hence the lift in US.

Buying in 2015: Captain toad: treasure tracker,

yoshi woolly world

The 3DS isn't performing quite as hideously as people want to make it out to be.

In the start of February 2005 (2 months and 2 weeks after launch), the DS sold around 37,000 a week, while the GBA was selling 70,000 a week.

This week (2 months after launch) the 3DS is selling 32,000 while the DS sold 50,000.

In EMEAA, the DS sold 35,000 2 months after launch, while the 3DS is selling 30,000 2 months after launch.

In Japan, the DS sold 32,000 2 months after launch (in February) while the 3DS is selling 23,000 (in May).

Overall, the 3DS is performing slightly worse than the DS originally did. Which is somewhat poor, obviously, but far from atrocious. Starting out slightly worse than the system that went on to become the best selling video game machine of all time isn't the worst thing that could happen.

And those Mario Kart Wii sales make me very happy.

Just because DS had an abnormal sales curve doesn't mean that 3DS will follow exactly the same one albeit lower. Those trends mean absolutely nothing. Looking at past HW sales from different consoles is almost useless, except when you are looking at seasonality.

Since the 3DS has an higer price, a more sucessful predecessor and bigger competition I don't think expecting it to do better than the DS from the beginning was realistic. And the comparison is actually a good one except for Japan, it also shows that when DS got big games (Nintendogs, Brain Age and Mario Kart mainly) it started selling well, which is what still has to happen for 3DS.

CURRENTLY PLAYING: Xenoblade (Wii), Super mario 3D land (3DS), Guild Wars (PC)
