Forums - Sales - Sony have already won...

I disagree with OP. I think the PS3 saw a strong boost in fall '07, but I think that's the exception and not the rule, as Sony started a huge marketing blitz in the late Summer. It ran into your standard holiday marketing blitz, to give an impression of strengthened position overall. I think Sony definitely strengthened their position, but not to the extent necessary to match 360 sales by the end of '08. I've said elsewhere that I honestly don't think PS3 will ever get within 5 million units of 360, unless something major/unexpected happens.

If you align launches, there are roughly as many weeks that the 360 outsells the PS3 worldwide as vice-versa, counting from right after PS3's Europe launch. I think 360 has slightly more, but it's close. That's the status quo, and that's what things are going to return to after the holidays.

Just how it is.

What war?
If you are refering to videogaming systems and hardware sales, then I am sorry but they all compete against each other, Wii, DS and PSP should be included (in all reality so should PS2 at the moment) If you want to take out systems for some reason then it doesn't look at the whole picture.... seperating home from handheld is ok, (although claiming you cannot compare handheld to home is silly) but taking out the biggest selling system so we can claim Sony a victor is silly.. why not take out the DS form the handheld "war"... that way we can see the PSP is pounding the GBA into the ground.

Also at the moment, the area with the largest PS2 sales is America, though Europe is very lose behind.

I think everyone is aware of the fact that Nintendo are destroying both Sony and Microsoft in sales right now, I said IF the war is between Sony and Microsoft. Many people consider the next-gen war between the PS3 and 360, including Nintendo themselves. Also MS and Sony (probably cos they're losing).

@ OP

The post should be "Sony HAS", not have. I read the first sentence and smelled fanboy anyhow.

Buried as inaccurate.

Well the Wii and DS are the best selling consoles of this generation so clearly they can't be on the same playing field as the Ps3 and 360 right?

Well that depends when the current-generation started. The DS was released during the PS2 generation.

no one is losing they are alll earning money. The market is just split between the 3 of em. The once that gain % is sony and nitty atm.

even when i see ppl that say that the psp fail... then i can just laugh.

heck even my 6 year old cousin got a ps3 this christmas(u should see 3 ps3s under the three ...was sweet)

Sony is losing alot of money^^

Next generation doesn't exist, there is only current and last generation. Wii and DS are both current generation products.

Yeah they are, but overall they're still at a huge profit from the Playstation brand. Nintendo have made the most, and Microsoft have only lost money.

Poor Sony fanboys are doing it hard, accepting that Sony are not number one anymore.

-UBISOFT BOYCOTT!-

Previous years profits don't count for much, Sony gaming division has lost a lot of money in the last 2 years and continue to do so. MS now make money from Xbox products.
