So what do you guys think of L.A. Noire. I'm only on the second case as a detective. It's seems to be a weird cross between heavy rain and some very light GTA elements. I like the animations/there probably the best thing about the game. Playing detective and asking questions is pretty fun,although I suck at asking the right questions. My only negative is that there's not really alot to do outside of the main story line. Sure you can respond to other crimes,find land marks and hidden cars,but that's just not enough. So,I think it's a fun game and something different and unique,but it kind of lacks variety and i'm probably only going to play through it once,unless they add some DLC. So what are your impressions. positve? Negative? mixed feelings? discuss.

I think it looks really good. I haven't played it that much yet, but so far (at least, to me) it looks like it has more to do that GTA IV. Man, that area was just so lifeless, it was sad.

It's really enjoyable though. I think 9 sounds about right.

I plan to buy this game today or tomorrow so I'm very interested in the HOPEFULLY SPOILER FREE impressions by people in this thread.  I'll check back later.

I think my biggest problem with GTA4 was that I didn't really like Nico Bellic as a lead character.  He was just annoying beyond believe (as was his cousin).  I've managed to absolutely love games like Red Dead Redemption and Saints Row 2.  So, when you get down to it--I hate to admit--the reason I didn't enjoy GTA4 was.......racism.

But with the consensus being that LA Noire is a cross between Heavy Rain (Great game!) and GTA4 (a technically great grame), I think I'm going to enjoy the game.  I just read the VGChartz review and it's making wonder if I should just go ahead and finish RDR before diving into LA Noire, though.  I've got about a quarter of the game left to finish.  LA Noire was definitely a must buy but reading our official review makes me wonder what the rush is.

I'm still reading your thread, oldschoolfool and if anything, it will be a success because, when I like a thread, I'll post in it 20 times!!  Shout out to CGI for his detailed input, too!

don't think GTA4. Just think any GTA game,as it's set in that kind of world, In 40's L.A. You can always rent it,if your not sure,but I'd recommend the game,as it's something different and unique. You have to at least try it.

It's a really fun game, the atmosphere is incredible, I'm playing it in Black and White and it looks amazing. So yeah without spoilers...get it it's awesome

360 version only

I am only 25% through the game as it came out on the 20th in Nz lol. So far its pretty damn. CGI quality is right about the facial animation. its very impressive and helps to capture your interest as most of time you be admiring the facial impression each suspect is making. In terms of performance, i do not know how it performs if you do not install onto the hard drive but once you do that the games runs pretty good.

There is still the occasional slow down but its not crippling bad. The only crippling bad slowdown you will get is when the title of the game comes up. TBH comparing to my older brothers ps3 version ( he got it because in nz you get a free DLC for pre-ordering therefore for the ps3 version you get two) its very identical in terms of looks and performance but it seems that he suffers from more occasional lag than the 360 version.

I like how the game is not  overly long like gta iv and i like how there are not endless amount of side-quest because to many of those will result in it getting very old and boring. Thats the main reason i never finished gtaiv and read dead redemption. I still think red dead is a better looking game.

The driving mechanics are very similar to GTA iv with slight tweaks meaning that its not as loose as the driving mechanics in GTA iv.

Shooting mechanics is also like GTA IV but this time you have auto aim which helps you aim better and quicker. The  best is the fighting mechanics as that is a big improvement from GTA iv . IT follows more of mafia 2 fighting mechanics which is  good .

Apart from that, i urge you all to get the game on your console of choice. Its a brilliant game which should be supported and recognized by us gamers.

i have also played heavy rain and to me LA Noire is a much much better game. Both are good but i prefer LA Noire.
