Aren't most of them costume DLCs or character DLCs?
What valve wanted to release was a game-add on, something like a small expansion. Not a couple of maps or costumes or whatever.

Well to be fair I don't think MS allows free full games or lots of free content (like downloadable missions and stuff) could be wrong though and Valve is just greed xD
OT: thats a big list of free stuff although most of its junk or I have it already lol.

Same here, and I paid for most of the stuff I have at that. On another note, when did Street Fighter 6 come out?
Love the product, not the company. They love your money, not you.

The whole reason Valve had to charge for L4D was most likely content size. Would you want people to download larger files for free? Maybe, but MS views bandwith as cost when it comes to large files. Only games I have seen got away with it are ones with large patche IE Fallout New Vegas or Test Drive Unlimited 2.
It's just that simple.

Burnout Paradise and I think especially BFBC2 have big ass "patches" which add more content than fix bugs.
And that for free.
Wow I can play Fable 2 DLC now for free. Thanks!
What about Alan Wake and The Writer, it's like $10 right? What about the other DLC for Alan Wake??
There have been free games in the past but I don't know if they're free now. Games I'm familiar with:

It should have been free for Gold users atleast..Considering MS makes more than 800 million bucks for abbonements they should made more DLC free , a lot of devs have DLC they wanted to give for free but MS wanted that we pay for it...Like Castle Crashers, the devs were even so furious that they put up like thousands of free DLC codes on their forum.
