The Netflix app for PS3 is better than 360 one... so expected.

LMFAO, hahahahahaha, hehahohehaho... no it's not, but thanks for the good laugh.

 "Xbox Pause"

All reviews I've read agree with me ... the PS3 Netflix app has more features.

* You don't have to pay for XBL to be allowed to use Netflix.
* GUI on the PS3 netflix app is superior.
* Some titles allow for 5.1 audio and subtitles.
* Movies buffer and begin playing much faster on the ps3 compared to the 360.

It's been awhile since I didn't use the app on 360... maybe it have an update.

Edit - You're using Kinect for Netflix... that's terrible... the worst interface for play videos I ever see.

I see you got your "review" from some person posting in another forum. If that works for you.

GUI is better on 360, faster, flips through box art quicker with less loading (But much of that is based on bandwidth)

5.1 is good, 360 will get it's 5.1 in a month or two.

Movies buff on my 360 allot faster then my PS3 (bandwidth by user) to each his own.

There is nothing wrong with Kinects interface, it works just like Zune marketplace, flawlessly.  I use Kinect more during movies I'm watching.

No google it.

The review you gave me was from a user on a forum, and some of those links don't even talk about 360 vs PS3, and one even talks about PS3 Netflix Headaches.

I will say that PS3 is better as a media hub then the 360 if your not using Windows Media Center, I mean you have Hulu, Netflix, Blu-Ray, but 360 Netflix is better.

To make it clear I love Netflix on both PS3 and 360.  But I prefer my 360 as netflix runs quicker, better and is easier to navigate with.  Maybe it's because I used Netflix on 360 for a longer period of time, or it's my bandwidth.

 "Xbox Pause"

So saying "Xbox Pause" is faster than pressing a pause button?

ABSOLUTELY, when I'm sitting back on my couch and the controller is on the table, or if I get up to walk out of the room, I can be in the other room and yell "Xbox Pause" and it works fine.

You know when your watching a movie (No Matter the console) and your a good 40min in, the Controller turns off, then you have to turn it on, and then hit pause.  Saying "Xbox Pause" is so much easier.

Netflix on 360 starts up quicker in my house, PS3 takes to long to load and for box art to show up, just doesn't feel as solid as the 360 version.

Why would you be in the "other room" to watch a movie?  And my remote controllers NEVER turn off unless the battery is dead or the device it's suppose to control is off.  Also, it's far more precise to press a button to play a scene after rewinding and/or fast forwarding instead of timing it to play at an exact point after saying "Xbox (function)."  But for some it's better.  I'm not going to argue that.  So for those who are willing to pay $210 extra USD to have this better feature ($60 for XBL Gold $150 Kinect) more power to them.

Please don't tout BS $210 extra charge for a feature as if thats the only thing Kinect is used for, thats like saying why did I spend $300 on a PS3/360 when I could have bought a $79.00 BR Player to watch Netflix.  Kinect Netflix function just came out and is an added bonus.  Xbox Rewind and Fastforward work flawlessly, the same as using the remote so I don't know what your talking about with "precision".

Why would I be in the other room?  because I get up from the couch to walk into the other room, you know to take care of other things. The world DOES NOT STOP when I'm watching a movie. When I walk out of the room, I forget to pause, so I yell 'Xbox pause', it's really not that hard to understand.

I guess you have the only controllers on the planet that don't turn off when not in use to save battery life, congrats on that.

"When I walk out of the room, I forget to pause, so I yell 'Xbox pause'"

Those are telltale signs of dementia.

"I guess you have the only controllers on the planet that don't turn off when not in use to save battery life, congrats on that."

I have them too!

HAHAHAHA!!!

PS3's Netflix is easier to set up, you just say that you're an existing member and type in your account info. For some reason Xbox gives you an activation code that is to be sent to you're email and then you type that in blah blah I don't even know what happens next because I lost interest so fast and just stopped trying. Long story short its harder to set up.

It's probably just the convenience of being able to set it up so fast that makes the PS3's Netflix the more often used.

Every heard of system settings?

Technically there isn't any option to turn it off through the "system settings" :-p

But thanks

Go change the controller settings in XMB ya nub, you too sega4life! I personally leave it on 24/7 since there are USB ports with power all over the place in my room anyways.

haha, I really didn't think of looking for a way to change it through XMB.  I would to, but the USB wire is sooooooo small ;_;

Gaaah you know what I mean, system settings refers to the settings column on the XMB, not that hard to find xD.

While I'm in total agreement that Netflix on the PS3 is superior, I base it solely on the fact that my movies load faster and don't interrupt on the PS3.  For some reason, Netflix on my two 360's (The Slim uses a wired connection and my 60GB Jasper uses a Wireless Adapater) is a lot less stable--it takes a minute to load a movie sometimes and it often stops in the middle of the movie to say that my internet connection has slowed or stops entirley ("Unable to resume video playback").  Again, this never happens on my other Netflix enabled devices and if the 360 didn't have these issues, it would be my Netflix player of choice.

What makes the PS3 superior is:  You can set the system to turn off after two hours--the 360 only shuts off after six hours of non-use--just in case you fall asleep during a late night movie session.  It loads faster (for me).  I assume it has better audio.  That's it.

See, what those links don't show you is that PS3 got the latest user interface a few weeks before the 360 (and Wii).  That's why they're all boasting PS3 superiority.  The 360 didn't have some of those features, yet.  Well 360, PS3, and if memory serves, the Wii all have the same user interface, now.  In fact, I can stop watching a movie on my 360 and resume exactly where I left off on my PS3.  I do it quite often.  There's no great big quality jump from Netflix PS3 over Netflix 360.

360 does offer Kinect support, allows you to watch movies with a friend over Xbox Live, and allows you to spy on your friend and see what they're watching but I don't think any of those features greatly improve the experience.  I think having to have XBL Gold to watch Netflix pretty much kills any advantage these features may have caused, anyway.  So, take it from a PSWii60PC Netflix user (My PC is actually hooked up to the same TV as the consoles).  They're pretty much identical.

Nope.  I've had to use an activation code for PS3, Wii, and 360.  You can go to Netflix.com and deactivate your PS3 and try to reactivate it if you want to.  When you turn on your new device (I even had to do it with a Netflix enabled TV I had for a couple of days back in January), the code pops up on the TV.  You have to go to the Netflix site to finish it up.  You can't have Netflix on more than about five devices so the set up is pretty much universal (only exception is the PC, as far as I know).

It goes like this:  Turn on Netflix.  Number pops up on screen.  Go to Netflix (different URL for Wii/PS3/360) and type in the number.  Same for all three systems.

So you don't actully have a PS3 then. . .

In the options there is a "switch" to make the  controllers shut down when not touched.

meh...I haven't used netflix on either system..so yeah....

So I have defective controllers is what your telling me?

WTF!

It might be different if you have a Sixaxis. I have a dual-shock and it stays on tll it dies

I knew my controllers turned off for a reason, I really thought my shit was defective.

I love the save battery feature, because well...

I've left my PS3 on for days doing folding a few times, tossed the controller somewhere randomly and came back with the controller having a good amount of power left while having it always on, as long as you are not doing game play or it's not rumbling a lot, it lasts a long time. Of course, nothing is wrong with the Kinect method either for as long as you find it to be easier, shit if I could do voice control on my PS3, I'd use that too, be like, "Playstation, load blu ray!" or whatever customize thing I can do, I mean, I have the official PS3 blue tooth piece, it's not like that'd be hard to implement. Fuck, why do we even need Kinect to do that? It's not like they can't make the headset mic to work with it, fuckers.

What makes the PS3 the ultimate living room multimedia hub is this thing: http://code.google.com/p/ps3mediaserver/ which also works with the 360 but it's more limited on the 360. That shit will knock out any other media server, and it's free. You could also configure renderer files to work on many different devices.
