Forums - Sales - will this psn problem stuff affect sales at all

as stated in the title, because of difficulties in the past few days with the psn, will it affect the consoles sales at all?   i really dont think it will, and if it does, it will be a very small number.

It would help sell more games.

For right now I seriously doubt it. Everyone expects it to be sorted in days rather than weeks.

Then again if it goes on too long who knows.

It has already affected PSN network store, since downtime means that individuals are not likely going to make impulse purchases, and impulse purchases typically do account for something.

However I doubt hardware is going to be affected that greatly, software might take a small hit.

It won't effect sales all that much if they get it up as soon as possible. If the PSN is down for to long, then there could be some serious problems for Sony. I'm sure there trying to get it up as soon as they can,as they know it effects there bottom line.

there might be a little dip(HW), PSN sales will probably get hit the hardest, nearly a week of sales lost.

it sucks for psn.

multiplayer heavy games will undoubtedly see lower sales for a week. It could have a reverse effect on the week after the outage though

Maybe certain software but not hardware.

Right now, nobody is buying downloadable content on PSN. The uncertainty over whether credit card info is safe will definitely impact future PSN sales, as well. So software revenues are being lost.

Hardware sales? That depends on how important DLC and online play are to customers. About 50% seem to care, and for those people, Sony platforms will look less attractive.
