Okay. I know this will get mocked and laughed at and whatever, but I don't care :D

As we now know, Nintendo shipped 15.08 Million Wii units. Down from the original 18 Million they expected. This has opened the door for Sony and the PS3 to be the best selling home console for the Fiscal Year. They had a target of 15 Million PS3's for the FY, just 80k units less than what the Wii had shipped. Pushing out an extra 80k is easy, really, after all the overshipping Sony do.

Now, where it gets tricky is the recent "50 Million sold" thing. For them to be BANG ON the 50 Million units at the end of March, then the Fiscal Year would only be at 14.3 (Or somewhere close to that). It can possibly be higher, but we wont know until May.

Anyway. The question I want to ask everyone here...

Have we just had the Year of the PS3, that many said would never come? We will find out for sure in May, but let your thoughts be heard here now

Hang on, so what you are saying is that there is a chance that the PS3 was the top selling console last year?

Well certainly good progress, but I think it should almost certainly "win" this year and will distinctly have Uncharted 3

Yes. There is a chance that the PS3 was the best selling in the last Year. Depending on if they slightly surpass the FY expectation of 15 Million units.

Next Year, with the Wii only aiming to get 13 Million done, it's there for the taking between Sony and Microsoft.

On game lineup, it has been the year of the PS3 since 2009.  As a gamer and not a shareholder or executive, that's what I care more about than sales or profits.

However, I do propose we start a "Overshipped, Stuffing the Channels, Sony Lies on their reports" thread when the results come out so everyone can redirect their complaints there.

"Naturally the common people don't want war: Neither in Russia, nor in England, nor for that matter in Germany. That is understood. But, after all, IT IS THE LEADERS of the country who determine the policy and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is TELL THEM THEY ARE BEING ATTACKED, and denounce the peacemakers for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. IT WORKS THE SAME IN ANY COUNTRY."  --Hermann Goering, leading Nazi party member, at the Nuremberg War Crime Trials

Imo 2009 with Sony having the best exclusive line-up with a game that was named GOTY by far was better than 2010.

It also had the Slim and pricecut and a bunch of cool new PSP games announced.

Only bad thing is that PSP Go failed miserably.

The year of the PS3 doesn't just mean hardware it's mainly the games, every year the PS3 comes out with the best exclusives so thats why every year has always been the year of the PS3 :)

It's 2009! No, it's 2010! No, it's this year! No, it's 2012!

Goddamnit, looking back at the releases we all saw those years, along with the strengtening of the PS3, I can't tell.

You can't say that it was the Year of the PS3 in previous Years because of the games released. Just because those things are subjective.

Sales... Aren't subjective.
