The system had a 100$ price drop and it's the Holidays. People need to stop the tunnel vision.

Wow at the numbers. 7.77 - 8.12 means an increase of 350K. I think 9M is a certain for the week ending 5th of Jan. It is likely to sell 9m by Dec 31st but it will be so close.

Woot! PS3 doing great in others! Let's see what its software sales will be!

Just cuz PS2 was a solid console due to the amount of games doesn't mean its successor is supposed to be good too. Microsoft its playing it safe by giving Americans what we want and that's an SKU that best fits our personal taste, solid FPS games and football games and also the 360 didn't put down our throats HD-DVD included so we would have to pay $600 at the start of this console war.

I want to see uncharted sales.

I only posted this thread because people thought it wouldn't hit 8 mil by the years end. Whether or not it has been because of the price drop remains to be seen, but since it has happened over a month ago, I'd venture to say that the price drop thing has worn off...

Sony and PS3 awesome console, great job.

But big milestone. Good to see PS3 having some success in the Europe/Other region.
