I don't know. What is so special about the PS Move?

I think you've massively misunderstood what these rumours about a new console are actually implying if you think it will just be the mythical WiiHD...

Upscaling RE4 Wii Edition would obviate the need for me to buy the XBLA version, so that's something.
Honestly, I can careless about graphics. I just want great online integration from Nintendo. I'm really curious about the controller as well.

It looks like a lolli pop!

They don't need to aim higher, but they likely will, simply because the PS360 have considerable stumbling blocks that could be easily surmounted (namely it would be easy to cheaply build a 360 with 1 GB of RAM, and suddenly have a much better 360) Nintendo can be positioned to get everything out of this, if they play their cards right. 3rd party parity is now easy as building a device and putting it out there, given how narrow 3rd parties' profit margins are, and then Nintendo can edge them out with unique exclusives Though with a samey console, the burden will be entirely on Nintendo's teams to put out the right kinds of games. The GameCube was samey, and with GameCube games got GameCube sales, but GameCube could have done much better with Wii games (the ones that weren't motion-intensive, even) |
i don't want to put too much thought into this cause this is all just rumors and speculation at this point...but i'm failing to see who would want to buy a wii HD at this point.
so yes, the multiplats that the ps360 get could appear on this nintendo console. i and 100ish M others already have a ps360. wii only owners could upgrade i suppose but if i were an upgrader and the wii HD cost the same or more than the ps360 i'd go with the consoles with a gigantic back catalog instead of the one with only a few game.
which basically means nintendo has to have another "gimmick" to distinguish itself. if the vitality sensor and the 3DS's current sales are anything to go by -- finding that gimmick that makes the entire market excited for a product isn't all that simple or assured. can nintendo do it again?
...and if nintendo overshoots the ps360 i'm not sure publishers would follow nintendo -- not without MS and sony also joining so third parties can release multi-plats instead of exclusives.
i just don't know ... i wouldn't want to have to make the choices nintendo has to make at this point.

What I got from this thread is next nintendo console is doomed on impact. Cool, I like my consoles doomed, they typically do better.

Seriously, this thread is basically saying that the current Wii is no longer able to compete with the HD consoles, and there is no point in Nintendo doing anything about it. All options for a new Wii will not be successful for this reason or that reason. So I guess Nintendo should just pack it in and quit making consoles. I hope the poor buggers at Nintendo read this thread and learn how it is before they do something stupid and release a new console that obviously no one will buy.
In the absence of evidence to the contrary, always assume you have the upper hand.
NNID = RangerOne
Switch = SW-2393-3671-6907
I'm pretty sure the Wii HD will have more going for it then just being HD. Also since the 3DS is more powerful then the Wii it pretty much forces Nintendo to release its next home console soon.
I just hope they ditch the stupid friend code system and give us a competent online platform.
