Plus, I still have Epic Mickey and Sin and Punishment sitting on my shelf unplayed, and Monster Hunter Tri barely played. So probably for the best.

You heartless monster!!!

Hmm, so I take it Sin and Punishment is an awesome game that I should play immediately ? That's relieving to hear, I was kind pissed when I noticed the game for $20 on amazon after I had recently spent $40 on it at gamestop, so good to hear it's at least worth the money.

Nintendo has 26 First/Second party studios. They also have quite a few 3rd party semi-exclusive studios like Monster Games, Shine'en, etc.

Check them out here, I'm keeping the list up to date as best as I can. There really is no excuse for this drought. They are outsourcing everything. This only points out at a new console being unveiled very soon.

You're making some pretty big assumptions when you say this, such as that all the studios' projects will result in release (they don't), that none of them are involved in hardware/software R & D (some are), that they're not juggling four separate platforms (they are), and that studios don't temporarily combine to work on projects (they do).

More the to the point...Shin'en?! You do realize they're only two people, AND that they're nonetheless releasing new games pretty quickly (FAST is coming to WiiWare soon).

I know, but you have to take into consideration that many of them are capable of handling more than 1 project at a time, so that balances things out.

I didn't know they were 2 guys only at shin'en. That's amazing. Anyways, the point is that Nintendo has a lot from where to choose, and if they don't it's because they are busy doing something else (AKA Wii 2 ;P )

I think you are right with your assumptions, I mean is really hard to believe that they have so many studios doing games for the 3ds only... I am actually thinking that we may see a wii2 for early next year (Not that I mind, I´ll buy it day 1)

E3 will settle this matter I think, if we only see xenoblade, last story and Zelda (I´d be very happy thats for sure) that would be the most honest confirmation that a wii2 is just around the corner...

At least NoE's Wii lineup had Chrono Trigger to save it, this one's just depressing

Nah, Wii pretty much has now seven games announced of any merit: Xenoblade, Last Story, Kirby, Wii Play Plus, Zelda, Dragon Quest, and Conduit 2. Of those only 2 have fixed release dates, two are definitely coming but probably not this year, and two have their worldwide releases in doubt.

The main problem though comes in the point that the games of any merit you listed are the games of merit to people like me and you, who visit videogame forums.

The general Wii user has a differing opinion, and its that different opinion that helps games like Carnival Games, LEGO Whatever, Deca Sports and Smarty Pants outsell games like The Conduit, Xenoblade and The Last Story. It's also that differing opinion that makes this lineup not as bad as what people are making it out to be. Yeah, before anyone goes and digs up my post history saying that the Wii lineup is shitty, think about it for a second...

Nintendo are catering to the userbases that are on the system. There is no problem with that at all.

If you're right, why are they bothering with Zelda then?

I mean if we take what you're saying to its logical conclusion, they should cancel it and release Wii Music 2 or something.

Twilight Princess Wii - 5.83 Million

Wii Music - 2.99 Million

Does that answer your question? Zelda is a huge franchise. Main-line games sell well no matter what platform they're on.

Not really. I'm well aware that Zelda outsold Wii Music, I just pulled that out of the air as something they could make given how they're already making Wii Play 2. There's a difference between a literal statement and an example. That was the latter.

Your whole point was that it's games like Deca Sports, Carnival Games, Wii Play or whatever other games like that which appeals to the main userbase of the Wii, so that's the userbase that they should focus on (and that that is what they're doing with this lineup).

I would suggest that Zelda does not fit into that userbase just as much as Xenoblade or The Last Story do not, irrespective of the size of those franchises, and that they are all far more appealing to us forum dwellers.

So, like I said, taking it to its logical conclusion, why make any games at all that appeal to the forum dwellers if we're such a tiny market segment? Why not just release endless versions of Wii Sports, Wii Fit et al?

Line-up is depressing but not terrible.

We have Cave Story, Ocarina of Time, Chrono Trigger, Wii Play 2, Conduit 2, and then Zelda, Xenoblade etc.

Why all the hate?
