As a loyal sega fan I protest to this thread...

I think it may be linked to when in time PS1 and most of all PS2 had success.  The time arround PS2 was a huge jump forward in Internet and gaming.   

So naturaly the user base  is well adotped to the internet ever since.   

Im on here cause Im a loyal PC fan not because of anything Nintendo ever did.

I think that is because PS3 fans are more hardcore gamers. They play every styles of games, RPGs, sandbox, TPS, FPS, racing games, baseball and more.

360 fans generaly like more FPS and TPS, e Wii fans more casual games. Do not forget boys and girls, I am Generally speaking. It is my opinion.

My best guess would be that the average age of PS3 owners is higher than that of 360 owners. Not because of the preferences over systems themselves, but because of the price. Most parents don't want to buy their child a PS3 when a 360 can play most of the same games and the price for the arcade is half of the PS3. This is what fueled the 360s lead in the US. Once a million or so teens get their hands on a 360, it becomes a fad. 

The PS3s price at release was just way too high for most parents to buy one for their child. My best guess would be that a lot of the PS2 fans that were a little older in age bought their own PS3 out of loyalty. It just hasn't had the price until the slim to attract a whole lot of younger players. That combined with the fury that the Wii unleashed upon most children and families when it released meant that most children were completely satisfied with the gaming system they had and didn't feel the need for a PS3 and parents never felt the need to buy one for them.

If the PS3 had a much lower price point at release, things may have been  a lot different this generation. It may have been the 360 with the largest mature audience or some other side-effect.

This is all just a theory though, but it fits nicely into the situation. Most kids don't get online to argue about statistics and have a firm grasp on common sense or reasoning. It really doesn't have much to do with the systems themselves, but the prices that have caused them to attract different audiences.

PS and PS2 sold over 100mil. PS3 has sold 50ish mil. Im willing to bet 90% of ps3 owners have previously owned a playstation console. When you continue chosing the same brand you become loyal to it. You are more interested in finding out as much as possible about it thus you browse the internet.

The original xbox sold around 25mil. The xbox 360 has sold over 50mil. A lot of the xbox fans just wanted the most powerful system, and so chose playstation 3 or pc this generation. Im willing to bet less than 30% of 360 owners have owned an original system. They are mostly new gamers, and former gamecube and especially playstation 2 owners. They aren't particular loyal to microsoft, it was just the most reasonable console choice at the time they purchased it.

The wii has no doubt had massive sales, but a very large portion of these are new gamers that have never gamed before. They won't be the ones surfing the web daily to find out more about their product. Core games that lack casual appeal are selling worse then their nintendo 64 counterparts and ever so slightly more than their gamecube counterparts. The core nintendo fanbase has grown slightly from last generation. 

All of this information should be taken as fact as it is 100% true no matter how little sense it makes.
