Why is so important a remake of Final Fantasy VII?

Because it's the best FF ever .. seriously 96 33.33%

Because a lot of things con be improved 42 14.58%

Because the fanbase demand it 65 22.57%

Because it's easy money 48 16.67%

I don't know 37 12.85%

Total:288

Firstly, the game looks like bumholes on my 42" TV. Looks even worse on the 52" in the front room. I want the game to be visually appealing when I sit down and play it again.

Secondly, Final Fantasy, FF2, FF3 and FF4 have all had the remake treatment. There is no reason why FFVII shouldn't get it too.

Point 3, the translation of the game sucks balls, there are LOTS of mistakes. Give me voice actors, the ones used in Advent Children will be perfect, thanks.

Point 4, Final Fantasy VI is not "better" than Final Fantasy VII.

Point 5, Final Fantasy VII's soundtrack, when orchestrated, sounds amazing. Here are a couple of tracks from the game that have been done in Orchestra.

I want to play through the game with tracks like that in the background.

My last point is - The demand is there. Leading up to the release of Final Fantasy XIII, almost every review with the team had the mention of FFVII and the remake.

On YouTube, the highest video when you type in Final Fantasy and go to order by View Count is this -

The game has topped the PSN download charts since it was released on the service in 2009 and was downloaded over 100,000 times in 2 Weeks. God knows how many more times it's been downloaded in those 2 Years. No other Final Fantasy game has even come close to these numbers. RPG's even now struggle to reach that number now that the genre is no longer a niche market on consoles in the West. I think the only one to do so is World of Warcraft...

Yeah.

I think I've argued my case quite well for why I want a FFVII Remake, and why one should be made.

i really dont care for a remake.  to me, it was perfect how it was.  a remake could prove disastrous at the rate square enix is going lately with the ff franchise.

I don't know... It's a good game but the graphics aren't that bad and  you can easily play it even nowadays. FFVI is the best FF in my opinion and it deserves updated graphics and gameplay mechanics.

I already posted all my reasons in another FFVII thread.  Suffice to say, FFVII is a game that both hasn't aged well and has many plot/character holes that can be fixed.  Even the creators have admitted this and said that's why they made Advent Children and Crisis Core.  The latter in my opinion being 10x better than the actual FFVII.

As much as I'm not a fan of FFVII, if they could remake, and fix everything, I'd probably be a bigger fan of it.  If they do like they did with the FFIV remake on DS....I seriously say just skip remaking it.  If you could even call FFIV DS a remake....

What was your problem with FFIV DS?  I loved it

How was it not  a remake: It updated the graphics to relatively high poly 3d models and backgrounds, added in real time cutscenes with good voice acting, included new game plus, introduced an augment system which really came in useful, upped the difficulty therefore making more fun and appealing to me, added several minigames (Kain's was my favourite), the music was updated with better MIDIs with IMO most tunes sounding better (the battle theme and King Giott are exeptions), featured battles over two screens leaving the top screen just for battle cinematics.

My only compaint was that it missed out some of the bonus dungeons from FFIV Advance.

Because two of the four things you mentioned were just graphixal updates.  As for the increased difficulty, that was just the same difficulty as the original Japanese SNES version.  And frankly, the game had a lot of limited and/or cheap difficulty that could have been improved with a new game engine.  Instead it was just a duplication of the original Japanese SNES version with improved graphics.

Compare this to something like the Dragon Quest DS remakes, which not only improved the graphics but added more items and skills to battle and balanced the experience gained each battle to remove grinding.  If FFIV DS had done anything like this, I wouldn't have had a problem.  Hell, if it had just improved bosses, it would have been better.  How am I suppose to know I have to steal from Rubacante to stop him from casting magic or that the CPU boss would have a OHKO move for my party?

For that I would suggest playing it on an emu in 1080p and some other enhencements. Doesn't make it perfect, but visually it's quite a huge difference. (although the difference is much better for FF8)

Agree.

Agree².

Point 4, Final Fantasy VI is not "better" than Final Fantasy VII.

Arguable, but I agree³. I know quite a few disagree with this here, and I can understand why. 6 is a really great game, too.

Point 5, Final Fantasy VII's soundtrack, when orchestrated, sounds amazing. Here are a couple of tracks from the game that have been done in Orchestra.

Dude, that was so awesome and so nostolgical.

I had goosebumbs...

bet with Mordred11 that Rage will look better on Xbox 360.

I think the question needs to be asked "Why hasn't it been made already?"  I mean Wada's in charge and he's damn near hell bent in bankrupting Square to make money, this is one of those no brainer decisions that would bring Square a lot of money.

Because its an amazing game. Not the best FF imo, but still one of the best games ever made.

pwin´ every other villain since 1994

cause 7 is the first FF series that not just in japan but hit the world crazy...

Forget FF VII... I want a Chrono Trigger HD remake. It's the best RPG I ever played. I spent a lot of hours playing it on my SNES back in the days.

people like living in the past? people want to ruin a classic?

Honestly even if a remake releases people will only complain of how the original was better and what not
