I believe it is because some stores are now offering it at 39.99 price tag. Could be wrong, regardless still impressive.

Who believes GT5 sold only 4,264 this week? I don't... the next PD update will be interesting.
Good to see Ghost Recon in the top 40 for 3DS and great sales for Street Fighter as well. We want third party games to sell, we don't want a Wii situation :S
Also this means that launch aligned, the 3DS sold a total of:
Japan: 374,164
EMEAA: 346,021
US: 672,054
AUS: 31,271
TOTAL: 1.42 Million in week one

I wouldn't have expected any less, it was the successor to what will be the most popular games console, and even though it was more expensive it was always going to sell great
I know comparisons will be drawn with the PS3 based on a more expensive successor to the most popular console ever, but the 3DS is still not too expensive and they made more than the PS3
Actually, what I find so impressive is that it has done so well without the big hitting Nintendo franchises which will certainly give it a big push sometime this year (probably)

Do you have the week one of another console?

I just saying that it has done very well all things considered ...
Breaking 500,000 units sold for a $150 system in November with a couple big first party games would be expected, but to do it in March, at $250, without any stand-out title is impressive.

All I can find right now is that the Nintendo DS sold about 500k week one in the US market. It was released on November 24th for $149.99. So the 3DS beat the DS even though the original was released in the middle of the holiday season for $100 less. You'd expect it to beat it of course but it's still worthwhile noting the performance of each system in terms of the date and price.
Edit: Also Australia, "19,191 units were sold from Thursday 24 February to close of business Sunday 27 February."
Also, Australia:
DS - $199.95, sales of 19,191
3DS - $300 - 349.95 (depending where you bought it from) sales of 31,271
what the shit is going on with the formatting????
