Forums - Sales - Has Monster Hunter Surpassed Dragon Quest in Japan?

Yep, SE are probably kicking themselves for backing the wrong horse, the Wii is selling so bad that people here celebrate when it sells over 10k.

If ToG is any indicator, taking DQ to it is commercial suicide. But then again, theres no such thing as a game doing poorly on Nintendo, ask the people here.

Im just stating the fact, the PSP and PS3 have sold less units than their counterparts and yet their third-party games sell way better, in fact the biggest third-party franchise now happens to be on the PSP.

DQ  9 is a joke compared to 7 and 8, it simply shows that abandoning the core gamer will do you good in the short term but ruin you in the long run. If DQ10 comes out on the Wii, which it will even if SE dont want it given Nintendos draconian ways, it will be the start of the decline of the franchise. In fact you can say it already has given both the DS games sold roughly the same despite being on the most succesful platform ever.

I don't make that many threads. Usually when I do there's some big mistake. Looks like I made another here.

I think I'm gonna put a scary face in the OP...

Carl, now we have analysis guy talking about how DQX wii will cause the series to decline, and in the same paragraph as DQ9 was a bad move, given that is one of the most sucessful DQ games ever. I hope you are proud of yourself. I refuse to respond to him, using his logic, that is why I am responding to you.

-sigh-

1. Dragon Quest IX is the best selling Dragon Quest ever. Monster Hunter Tri is the best selling Monster Hunter on home consoles and was followed up by the best selling MH ever too. Being on Nintendo platforms doesn't suddenly equal a series decline.

2. This thread isn't about what you think Nintendo are doing to big games.

3. Click the following link, read what it says, then please leave the thread. Nintendo hating is not wanted here - http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/post.php?id=3993800

So should we speak to him by speaking to each other?

Since it will make him feel unwanted which I guess is the message we are trying to get across...

I dunno, maybe is the fact that the new DQ games take a long time to release...  One should remember that all the DQ remakes sold well above a million units, so I dont think DQ is not as big as before, is just thas MH fever seems be growing with each release, and so it is in route to be the biggest third party IP in Japan...
