Forums - Nintendo - Little Help Please

Ok so I am trying to pick out a Wii game for my brother right now and I was hoping folks could point out some less obvious choices.

Info

- He is a huge movie buff, has a massive collection of DVDs

- Has a girlfriend (probably fiance after x-mas) who enjoys playing the Wii as well, and is also into movies

- Doesn't have an enormous amounts of time to play so something that you can play for short periods and still make progress is a big plus.

- He loves the madden '07 & boxing controls (mostly the wii-mote actions that mimic game actions).

Ok my current leaning is The Godfather: Blackhand Edition, but I know that a lot of you know the libraries way better than I do so perhaps you can think of something. Also, given the decimated Wii sections of most stores I think it would be nice to at least have a backup plan.

Thanks for any help guys.

The Godfather is a good game, provided he enjoys GTA games. It's fairly easy and like most games of it's type you can simply go around killing people for the sheer fun of it, which is a lot fun with controls.

Zack and Wiki has a lot of controls mimicing action in it, and it's set-up as several small levels. It's a fairly challenging puzzle game though, so it'd depend on if he likes that or not.

EDIT: If he likes Arcade racers, Excite Truck would be a good choice. Once you get use to the controls, it's a lot of
fun and defintely the kind of pick up and play game you can play in short bursts and progress through.

FURTHER EDIT: I haven't played it Geometry Wars: Galaxies seems fairly popular. I know it has co-op, and a lot of levels, and if it's anything like the 360 version (which is included with Galaxies) it's very pick-up and play.

MoHH2, if he likes shooters

M & S, sounds like a winner also(if he like multiplayer)

add me, the more the merrier.

I actually asked him point blank about M&S and he said "No more sports games.". Not sure what his reasoning is on that one, but it killed my idea of Tiger '08 since he likes golf.

MOHH2 is definitely a possibility. And I think I can probably convince him to see past Z&Ws cuteness to its underlying genius. I know he would like Z&W if he gave it a fair shake but thats really the tough part with him.

I would try with Lego Star wars, or perhaps Nights...

Lego Star Wars probably be a good call. Easy and drop in/out co-op play. But going off what you said about Zack and Wiki he might have issues with cutesy games, that could be a problem.

Excite Truck.

Super Mario Galaxy... That's the only game you need on the Wii...

Ok well from my previous conversations with him I had the impression he wasn't that interested in SMG so I was kind of weary of it. As I said he doesn't have a lot of gaming time so the game would have to be something I can badger him into giving a chance or something he would think to play on his own otherwise he probably would never use it.

But, after talking with him today a bit he specifically mentioned SMG and I played sly and asked if he had "The Godfather" DVDs and he was kind enough to say that he had the movies and loved them. I followed up with some questions about GTA and what he thought of it and again it seemed mostly positive.

So I went out and decided to be a nice brother and got him SMG & Godfather. I had to hunt down Godfather but I really think he will like it.

A big thanks to everyone for their suggestions, I truly appreciate it.
