The Godfather is a good game, provided he enjoys GTA games. It's fairly easy and like most games of it's type you can simply go around killing people for the sheer fun of it, which is a lot fun with controls.
Zack and Wiki has a lot of controls mimicing action in it, and it's set-up as several small levels. It's a fairly challenging puzzle game though, so it'd depend on if he likes that or not.
EDIT: If he likes Arcade racers, Excite Truck would be a good choice. Once you get use to the controls, it's a lot of
fun and defintely the kind of pick up and play game you can play in short bursts and progress through.
FURTHER EDIT: I haven't played it Geometry Wars: Galaxies seems fairly popular. I know it has co-op, and a lot of levels, and if it's anything like the 360 version (which is included with Galaxies) it's very pick-up and play.
