Forums - Sales Discussion - Analyst: "Weak 3DS launch spells doom for Sony's NGP."

If you think I'm going to resort to say the price  for AB and SMB is very different, you though that wrong, because that would be away too easy.

Nintendo fans - "NGP is doomed cos handheld sales are down!"
Sony fans - "NGP is gonna be a success cos 3DS is "failing"!"

Microsoft fans - "this doesn't mean anything"

Logical viewpoint - "this doesn't mean anything"

Microsoft fans are logical? It's obviously April 1st!

I can't help but laugh everytime someone thinks Rol is talking seriously. Plus it is April's 1st.

Also, I'm dissapointed "ioi 3: ioi's revenge" wasn't launched.

What Rol said.

I want you to explain it to me, Beuili.

Ah, another prediction from by favorite analyst Sebastian Kramer. Oh Rol.

The funny part is that people are actually falling for it, I mean seriously.

What's genius is how controversial this subject is, so it generates a lot of interest.  Also, a weak 3DS launch would spell the opposite of doom for the NGP, imo.  It would spell "w-i-n-n-i-n-g", as Charlie sheen likes to say. lol

That statement is based on the assumption that one company's loss is another one's gain, but video games are a luxury item, so if one product fails it doesn't mean that interest translates to a competing product.

Take last year's Guitar Hero and Rock Band games for example. When GH bombed the RB creators were in hopes that people held off of GH to buy the superior RB a couple of weeks later. It ended with RB bombing even harder than GH.

True.  I only mean it at the very core.  Meaning one person who only picks one console and doesn't get a 3DS is one more potential available consumer who might be swayed by NGP down the line.  I mean only that.  I think that's reasonable enough.  More people might be open to a handheld if they don't have one already.

What I don't understand, it isn't a weak launch? I mean by what standard is this weak? It might not be the strongest, but it is far from a weak launch.  I don't necessarily get the whole NGP will do better or worse, because how 3DS did either. Given Sony fans are Nintendo Fans are horrible these days, and Seece is right.

It is weak based on Nintendo's expectations which is what really counts. Their shipment projection for the end of March was four million units worldwide. This assumes a sellthrough of at least 2.5m units, but more realistically around 3m. Add up the numbers we have so far and it's clear that the 3DS won't match the target set for it.

Didn't they also expected 15 millions of software sold if I remember correctly?

I didn't think you'd be able to come up with an answer. Thanks anyway.
