Heres the thing.

XBL is always first with the new stuff. ALWAYS.

XBL has ALOT more HD movies available for buy or rent. Zune Pass for absolutely every piece of music ever written ( with no downloading needed ).

Community games, which are fantastic and super super cheap. XBLA gets alot more exclusives and has alor more arcade games available than PSN.

The other point is it depends on where you live.

GT5 came out here in the UK. I went to my friends house to play it and have a bifta. But we couldnt play it because it would not load due to the online side of GT5 completely screwing her PS3 up. It wouldnt load pass the servers. every time you accessed the nest screen it took 15 mins to communicate with servers and then not connect. It was attrocious. We live in the UK, so I dont know if other countries have problems like this. But she hates PSN for the sheer amount of issues it has. KZ3 was another game that made her PS3 crawl at a snails pace.

I have no idea why it keeps happening. But she often stops her PS3 accessing PSN just so she can play games.

XBL is smoother, faster and has alot more content. ( At least here in the UK ). It disconnects alot less here and allows for creative freedom from the community to build there own games and put them up on XBL.

I may pay £35/ year. But I have trouble free online usage and more content in my country. FACT.

i dont know what your rambling on about.

i never had a problem with accesing a game on psn.

also considering i have 2 kb/s internet its amazes me.

ot: i voted for the obama option :P

but i do agree with many that xbl>psn

only problem i have with xbl is that you have to pay to play online. if the rest of the package was a premium service then i woudnt mind.

You only have to type in GT5 wont load or freezes on Bing and it's all there. The issues are always fixed when disconnecting from PSN. It's happened to alot of games my firend plays. Looking on Bing there are alot of people from many countries. She has a 50 Mb connection and here 360 is always fine. So it's definately PSN. She just has to many issues. 1 day it works the next it doesnt. Some games are fine. But mainly the good games seem to mess her around.

wait, you use bing? lol, you might just be the biggest microsoft fan (not boy) ever

I try not to use search engines with advertising BS as well as bringing up irrelevant search material due to money. That is exactly what Google has become.

Bing does the same job as Google but without the BS. Also it is automatically incorporated into the latest IE. The google toolbar drains to much performance. So yeah, it makes surfing and finding a hell of alot better at the moment. Hopefully it doesnt fall into the Google trap that Google have found there search engine in.

PSN because I have it and it does everything I expect it to. I could care less about cross game chat. I rarly chat while on anyway. The mic is for strategy, not gabbing.

LIVE currently winning the poll despite PS3 fans heavily outnumbering 360 fans on this site.

The proof is in the pudding folks.

LIVE is just THAT DAMN GOOD...!!!!!!!!

they all say LIVE is good, but they dont know why!?!?1

it must be hypnotism.

*cracks knuckles*  Okay.  I've had a good night's sleep.  I'm refreshed and ready to post.  I'm currently logged in to both Xbox Live and the PSN in my game room so I'm not going to post anything unless I see it first hand.  Both of my consoles are connected to the same TV with PS3 connected to HDMI 2 and Xbox 360 connected to HDMI 3.

  • First off, let's shut Blackbuster Critic up.  He complained about Xbox Live having ads.  It does.  Normally (but not always), the ads are either contests where you can win MS points, free wallpapers, or gamer pics.  There's no "video of a car driving" and shit like he says (*edit* well, I'll be damned.  I clicked on one of the ads and there was a part were I could watch a video of a car driving.  I guess I was wrong.*).  And I'm logged into the PSN as we speak.  Ads.  Some pertain to PSN content (which I don't count).  And then theres the "All new Ford Focus" ad, the "MLB TV"  right there on the front page.  People in glass houses shouldn't throw stones.  There's also an ad for the movie Black Swan on both the PS3 and Xbox 360.  I don't hold this against either system because, like most of these "ads", it's telling users what content is available ON THE SYSTEM.
  • Netflix.  Both consoles offer Netflix.  On the 360, you can actually see which movie your friend is watching and you can join them.  Both of you can watch the same movie at the same time and your avatars will be sitting in a theater together.  You can talk to them.  In fact, when you log into Netflix (or any game), the console will tell you "friends watching Netflix" or "Friends playing Street Fighter 4" and with the touch of the guide button, a list of friends and what they're watching will appear.
  • The PS3 browser:  It was great like the Wii browser, initially.  It's in dire need of an update.  I used to use both browsers a lot but now, even sites like VGChartz don't work on it.  Try going to last.fm on it.  It won't run the content.  Try going to youtube.  It will take you to "youtube XL" (aka the mobile version of youtube).  Try going to myspace.  You can't even look at a profile.  ESPN on Xbox 360 isn't a website (espn.com).  It's ESPN.  You can watch videos on demand, live events, etc.  Heck, even if you have Kinect, you can just tell the TV "Xbox, ESpn, play video 6, fast forward, play" and it will do all of those things with the clarity of DirectTV.  You guys seem to think that Twitter, Facebook, ESPN, and Last.FM are just the websites.  It's not.  They're like Aps.  I will admit, I don't have a Facebook account (did I mention I had a crazy GF?) but myspace will NOT WORK AT ALL.  Besides, who in the hell has high speed internet and no PC?
  • On Xbox Live, multiple accounts can log in at once.  If I'm playing two player split screen RE5, both of us can log in, get achievements, message our friends, etc.  On the PS3 (with the exception of Little Big Planet), I haven't been able to do that--and even then, I'm not logged in.  It just gives me my trophies when I DO log in later.  My PSN friends don't know I'm online.  I can't access my friends list.  Nothing.  I'm just a guest in somebody else's (usually, my daughter) profile. I play split screen a lot.
  • Messaging:  Yes, you can send your friends messages on PSN.  I can send friends messages and Voice messages on Xbox 360.
  • Friends:  You can see who you've played with on both consoles.  I can REVIEW who I've played with on XBL.  I can prefer somebody if we had fun.  I can block somebody if we didn't have fun.  I can report somebody if they did something I didn't like.
  • Friends Part 2:  I can compare Achievements with a friend without having to manually sync trophies.  I can see what games my friends are playing (like the PSN) but it will actually tell me what's going on in their game.  Instead of it just saying "d21lewis, Little Big Planet", it will say "d21lewis, Madden 2011, fourth quarter, 28-7" or tell what my score is in a game, or how many times I died.
  • Friends Part 3:  I can see my friends' profile.  Not just their avatar pic (and there are hundreds and of avatar pics to choose from--not just a few like the PS3 offers.) but their detailed profile.  You don't just type in a sentence.  You type in a whole profile about yourself (if you want to).  It may include where you live, what you like, or whatever.  Plus, not only can I see my friends list, I can see my Friend's  friends list!!
  • You have Gamer Zones so that if you're just playing for recreation, you can avoid those hardcore types.  If you're a family gamer, you don't have to worry about those crazy users.  If you're really intense, you can play with other intense, professional gamers.  You can pick the kind of gamer you play with.  There's also "TrueSkill" that takes into account how good of a player you are based on the games you've played to match you up against a similarly skilled player.
  • Every single solitary arcade game on Xbox live has a demo.  All of them.  You can try before you buy.  If you like it and buy it, it unlocks instantly.
  • Every single arcade game (and most other games) have leaderboards.  I can see at a glance which one of us is better at HexicHD, Geometry Wars, or whatever when I choose the game.  It's right there on my dashboard.
  • Indy Games and Game Room:  Super cheap games that cost about a dollar.  You talk about your cell phone games and your simple yet addicting games--There's hundreds of them available on XBL!!  And Game Room sucks.....but it has 100% authentic old school games for old school gamers.
  • Videos:  If you buy a movie or a TV show from the PSN and you delete it, it's gone forever.  You just lost your money.  I learned that first hand when I deleted a bunch of movies from my HDD a year ago (even made a thread about it.).  Why did I think I could just re-download my movies?  Because, on Xbox Live, if I buy a movie or a TV show, I can just re-download it for free.  It blew my mind.
  • Cross Game Chat:  Why the hell would I want to talk to somebody not playing the same game as me?  Because they may be on the dashboard trying to get into the same game as I am and I can talk to them as soon as they log in.  Because I may be watching Netflix and they may be playing a new game I want to know about.  Because we're friends and I want to talk to them.  No matter what they're doing on the 360, I can stay in touch with them.
  • Video Content:  You know how the PSN has Qore?  360 has Inside Xbox.  It has Major's Minute.  It has The Kinect Show.  It has IGN Strategize.  It has the OXM (official xbox magazine) report.  It has Xbox 101 (videos about xbox questions).  It also has some Xbox specific programming like The Guild.  It has Internet Videos.  I can watch MSNBC, the Today Show, and the NBC nightly news on my Xbox instantly, in HD, right now.
  • Music Marketplace:  Yeah, I know there's sites on PSN that will let you download illegal MP3's directly to the console.  I've done it.  XBL has music videos, last.fm(as I mentioned before), a gamestore for music games like Rock Band, and Dance Central, top 10 lists, and more.  Plus, with the Xbox (not an Xbox Live feature but I'll toss it in there), any music saved to your HDD can be used to replace the background music in ANY game.  I played Limbo with the Silent Hill 3 soundtrack.  I may put the Super Mario soundtrack that I got with Super Mario 25 Year Anniversary Edition as the bacground to Braid.  It's awesome!
  • Xbox 1 and Xbox 360 games:  Right there, ready for download.  Yeah, there's a few full fledged retail games available for download on the PSN.  There's a TON of full fledged retail games available for download on Xbox Live.
  • Xbox 360 lets you install any games (and there is a performance boost--I have a game that took about 20 seconds to load suddenly load in five seconds when installed--I hate to say it but it was Onechanbara Bikini Samurai squad.....).  Plus, I can download while the console is turned off.  Only PSN Plus users have that option.
  • Gaming with fame:  Almost weekly, there's an event where real stars pick a specific game and play it on Xbox Live.  It's featured on the community calender.  Game developers get into the act, too.  Add them to your friends list before the event and you can play their game with them.  There's also dedicated family nights, specific game nights, ladies night, and stuff like that.
  • Online performance:  This is purely annecdotal but I'll put my hand on the Bible.  I played a ton of games on Xbox Live without a hiccup.  There's been a few times where somebody "got disconnected" when I was winning in SF4 but that's rare.  I have yet to play a game on the PSN (in all honesty, I've only played Super Street Fighter 2 HD, Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2, Little Big Planet 2, Little Big Planet, and Killzone 3) without some major problem connecting, getting disconnected, or some lag.  There's even people on this site who couldn't even play with me for some reason or another.  I don't have that problem with Live.  Maybe it's different for you.  This is my experience.
  • Patches.  Be honest, PSN users.  Patches are a bitch.  Blame it on internet connection or whatever.  My 360 is sitting six inches away from my PS3.  Updates to PS3 games take anywhere from a few seconds to a couple of hours.  360 updates take anywhere from a few seconds to several seconds.  The only time it's taken minutes is when the whole entire dashboard got upgraded.  For this reason alone, I've NEVER played Uncharted 2 and MGS4 online.  I just couldn't wait that long.  When I got LBP GotY Edition, it took HOURS before we could play it.  Same goes for my nephew.  He got Smackdown, Madden, and NBA2K11 for Christmas.  I wanted to help him get the free DLC that came with Smackdown.  We spent half the day updating his console and games.  Tell me this is just us.  This NEVER happens on XBL.
  • When I play on Xbox Live, EVERYBODY seems to be into the game.  We all have headsets.  Both consoles have similar sound quality.  I use a set of Turtle Beach PX21 earphones when I play (highly recommended) for both the PS3 and 360.  Sometimes, when I play on PS3, it seems like I'm the only one with a headset.  It's not a feature of Xbox Live but providing everyone with the means to communicat is a big plus in Xbox Live's cap.
  • Both consoles provide their free content and stuff.  I got the movie Stranger Than Fiction for free from PSN.  I got episodes of South Park for free from XBL.  I got Ragdoll Kung Fu for free from the PSN.  I got Dash of Destruction, Harm's Way, Crash Course, Aegis Wing, Hexic HD, Carcossone, and Undertow for free from XBL.  PSN Plus users can boast a ton of other free content, too.
  • Every single game on Xbox 360 has Achievements.  There's games (like MGS4) for PS3 that don't have trophies.  For that reason, I don't bother with trophies at all.  It just seems like it isn't accurate.

That's it.  I think everything I posted is true. If you see something wrong, tell me and I'll try it on my PS3 (ID: d21lewis).  If I made a mistake somewhere, I'll gladly apologize for it and correct it.  Like I said, both my PS3 and 360 are turned on right now.  I didn't type anything I didn't see.  I don't have PSN , though.

I have a friend named Samuels at work.  He plays PSN.  He could care less about these features.  He just wants to get online and play.  PSN is a good fit for him.  He has a PS3.  I have a friend named Muai.  He plays Street Fighter on a professional level (been in several tournaments).  He owns a PS3 and a 360.  He only plays online games on the 360. I have a hard time finding anybody that owns both that doesn't prefer XBL.  Maybe it's not worth $60 to some people but for me, it definitely is.  My satellite costs me $90 a month.  Netflix costs me $10 a month.  My car costs me $100 in gas a week.  XBL costs $5 a month.  I can deal with that.
