To those saying they don't think they'll use the 3D and don't own the system, you'll change your mind when you get time to play it in a comfortable setting i.e. not in a freaking store.

I don't think so.

But let's say it is. Then Nintendo blew it by having the 3D shown off in a place that would make them look worse.

So even if you're right, it actually makes it look MORE bleak for the system.

It's true. You get accustomed to the 3D after some while. At first everyone is trying to treat the screen like a normal 2D screen which makes everything look weird and blurry. But after some while you get used to it and stop focusing your eyes on everything at once.

Showing the device off in a store is not the best solution but what else should they do?

The screen maybe smaller, but i.e. the fireballs are smaller as well. It's not about screen size, it's about screen resolution.

Even a small fireball -whatever the resolution of the screen- grows to a wide visual angle if it pops out enough and comes "close" (in the 3d sense) to your eyes, but it can't obviously be displayed outside the visual angle of the screen that is "behind" it.

Thus, the OP is right in his explanation involving the absolute size of the screen, not the resolution in comparison to - say - a movie theater. Or more exactly, the angle under which you see the 3ds screen compared to the much wider angle under which you see the screen at a cinema, which are a function of the absolute size of the screen and the absolute distance from your eyes.

If it's still not clear, you should try drawing some sketches with paper and pencil.

I think it's the best 3D that I've seen. The cinema ones sucked, those TV ones always flickered, and were never clear for my eyes at all. The 3DS one actually works, I was shocked. Got the 3DS yesterday and I really like it. However, I wont be using the 3D feature much since it annoys my eyes after I'm done playing. Like in another thread, my PC screen feels like it has some weird depth or somethin. Anyway, people complaining, stop wanting attention over something like this. I can't wait for RE, MH, and Mario. That's what i'm waiting for.

Oh and I didn't spend 250$ on a machine for 3D, I bought it for the games that I know are coming out. I wouldn't buy it if it had no good games coming out soon. The launch line up is bullcrap ( i got pilotwings which is not the kinda game that I like, but I'm still gonna finish it) and I'm glad it showcases some use of the 3D, and I'm sure it'll get better.

I don't know Rol, I actually had your problem with those bullshit 3D TVs. I noticed a bit of depth, but then it would flicker and distort the image. What I like about the 3DS is that I can set how much 3D depth I want. I usually have it on low or a bit in the middle. The fullest makes my eyes bleed.

So what exactly did you see? Have you played Killzone 3 in 3D. Have you watched any o the IMAX blu ray 3D? I guess not. No flicker on my TV and I still think it was my last year's best purchase. Maybe youve seen some demo on a cheaper 3D LCD TV.

I haven't had any problems with my 3DTV, I've watched a few 3D movies and some demo clips, and they all worked fine. Watching Avatar for 2h45m had no after-effects on my vision. And this wasn't the feature I bought this TV but a HD Sat-dec.

If someone says that they have seen 3D content on both 1080p 3DTV and 3DS and 3DS is better than surely they cannot be serious. Am still waiting for Avatar 3D blu ray. Damn Panasonic for getting the exclusive rights for a year. Apparently you can download ripped Avatar 3D but never tried that. Going to enjoy Tron Legacy 3D in a couple of wks.

I guess a $6000 3D TV running with monsters vs aliens isnt enough, or even avatar eh? The last time I've seen a game played in 3D was at this games convention with a game that I cannot remember it's name, and it was flickering, hurting my eyes in the process. After watching 2 minutes of monsters vs aliens in 3D, my eyes were getting very annoyed and I stopped watching.

I never said it was better, I said that I found it better to ME because i could adjust it. I hate 3D by the way since it's all bout tricking the eyes. =_=

i don't get why so many people think of the cheezy pop out effects as what 3d is good for

if you have a 3ds to me the best 3d i have seen so far is in the miiplaza

go in your mii plaza and to go "find mii" and see yourself in the cage.  now turn 3d off, turn it on, turn it off, turn it on, ect.  how much more awesome is it on.  that is good 3d, not some hand or bug flying at you like movies do in all 3d movies.  that is cheezy

go and watch a 3d movie not in 3d and you'll se what i mean.  take resident evil i just watched, you can tell all the moments and there was a lot that they did specifically to have something fly out the screen at you.  its just felt ackward and weird and out of place.  it ruined parts of the movie.  Now watch say avatar.  I have not seen it in 3d and it was perfectly fine watching.  no moments did i feel like there was a forced 3d moment.

if you notice what parts would "cool" in 3D when watching or playing in 2d, that is bad 3d imo.

No, it's not the blurry aspect. I got used to that after seeing Captain EO at Disneyland about 20 years ago.

I mean that I won't use the 3D because it doesn't add anything. It doesn't make the games better, and don't tell me it will. It's not true depth perception. It still works just in layers.

So you can say that it won't make games better and I can't say it does??? In my opinion it ats a lot to the experience, more so than a few polygons and I am very happy Nintendo implemented it. Thus making games better!!

If the design is bad, it cannot make it good. If the design is already good, it would be good without 3D vision. That is why it doesn't make the game better. It's the same with that high definition crap a couple years ago.* Plus games are for playing, not experiencing.

* BTW, my position was never for HD-DVD, but against the notion that the public was choosing blu-ray; the industry chose one side, not the mainstream.
