Forums - Nintendo Discussion - How do YOU want the Wii 2 to be like

For me to buy it, it would need good online comparable to PSN/XBL, HD graphics and power comparable (doesn't have to be better, but in the same class as) the PS4 and Next Xbox, and some good 3rd party support.

Nintendo has to start getting the big 3rd party series releasing games on it such as GTA, CoD, etc. If they can achieve good 3rd party support as well as all the usual good 1st party games there will be no reason for the Wii 2 not to sell hugely.

Oh and some new IP's would be great too. We all love Mario and Zelda but lets get some new stuff too, Miyamoto!

He was teasing the media about a new IP last year, but he stopped. One thing he did notice was that he mentioned swimming in all the interviews, so maybe the new IP is Steel Diver?

What I want:

Roughly 2.5x as powerful as PS3, with more RAM

20gb storage, expandable

unified online system

SEGA MD CD, Saturn and DC games on the VC

GC and Wii full backwards compatibility

Games come on a disc media based off Blu-ray or HD-DVD

Somewhere between the size of the Wii and half again as big

Retail in the U.K for roughly the same price as 3DS did originally - £230 ($375)

@OP: if they use a Power CPU, a legacy Broadway CPU isn't needed for BC.

About RAM: MINIMUM 2GB, to be reasonably sure multiplats are possible without the need to modify the levels or the way they are loaded. Hadn't MS still stuck with 32bit instead ot completely switching to 64bit, keeping 3GB the maximum requirement of most PC games, the minimum RAM also for next gen consoles could have easily become at least 4GB. It's true that Windows is a resource hog, while consoles have lean OS', but this can lower their main RAM requirements for the same games only down to a certain limit.

I agree about the complete set of motion controls, both hands-free and with controllers.

Quite obviously Ninty must also add some original HW features carefully taylored around the gameplay innovations it wants to bring, unless Wii2 be only meant as an evolutionary step of Wii, in this latter case Wii2 would be a fitting name.

I seriously doubt Wii2 to even be as powerful as the PS3,let alone 2.5x more powerful.I even doubt the PS4 to be that powerful.

Why in the world would Nintendo make it less powerful than the PS3?

Nintendo makes an underpowered console once and suddenly people think they can't put out a powerful console.

  • Make it Full HD, so 1080p on every game with a solid frame rate, just for the lulz of Nintendo being the first company to deliver on this when others promised it at past E3 conferences.
  • Friend codes - I don't mind them as long as its one per system and we get a proper friends list like XBL/PSN. A username scenario would be better though. Along with this I'd like some kind of meaningful reward system. I've no interest in showing off e-peen through trophy score, but if you could use some kind of trophy/achievement system to build up points to spend in the online store, then that would be great. So for example, if you complete the 3D Mario game with the bare minimum number of stars, then you could get 500 points, but if you go the distance and find every star, you'd double that and get an extra 500 giving you 1000 in total.
  • Storage - This is something they need to improve on, with the advances of online stores for games and video, they need at least 50GB internal memory, but 100GB or more would be better, we can then see an improved WiiWare store with a few more multiplatform titles due to the disposal of the size limit.
  • An improved Wii remote with motion plus built in as a minimum, if the addition of a Kinect/Eye style camera can improve it even more, do it. But I'd ship a classic controller along with the console for those who don't want to leave that style of control behind, thus developers can either include options for each control scheme or focus on one in particular if they don't think the other is suited to their game, as everyone has at least one of either controller.
  • We've seen Nintendo go with modified optical media before, so perhaps some kind of modified Blu-Ray disc provided by Panasonic.
  • The 3DS has the ability to pause mid-game and bring up the browser, I'd like the next home console to also have this feature, as well as being able to message friends, etc, mid-game.
  • The hook - It needs something to differentiate itself. More power alone isn't enough. I'm hopeful that Nintendo R&D are cooking up something, but whatever it is, I couldn't speculate.

VGChartz

It will be called "Nintendo 3Dii". Miis will still be there, HD and yes, 3D. A "3Diimote" that will far surpass the Sony Move, with a tool to scan those "QR Codes". It's coming next April, world wide, $300.

Ask stefl1504 for a sig, even if you don't need one.
