Forums - Sales - How many 5 million+ sellers will the Ps3 and Xbox 360 have by Dec 31st 2012

PS3: The 6 you mentioned plus Uncharted 2, and the 2011 and 2012 Call of Duty. FIFA 11 and Final Fantasy XIII might make it in 2012, but I doubt it. Uncharted 3 should make 5 million by 2013 as well, but I'm not sure if it will do it by the end of 2012.

360: The 11 you mentioned, plus Kinect Adventures (which you didn't include, despite it still being a game with 1,000 achievements), plus Forza Motorsport 3, the 2011 and 2012 Call of Duty, Gears of War 3, Forza Motorsport 4, Kinect Sports and I'm fairly confident at least 1 Halo title will make it (343 Studios did promise a Halo every year, so if one doesn't come out this year, one will in 2012 fall). Red Dead Redemption and Assassin's Creed 2 might break 5 million as well, but I'm skeptical. There will also likely be another 5 million plus selling Kinect title by then, but nothing is confirmed.

So 9 total for PS3, and 19 for 360. However if GTA V comes out, add one more to both lists.

Also, because I can:

Wii: The 16 games already over 5 million sales, plus Link's Crossbow Training, Donkey Kong Country Returns, and The Legend of Zelda Skyward Sword. Pikmin 3 will probably come close, and I bet Nintendo will release another 5 million plus selling game, but for now nothing is confirmed. There will also likely be a Just Dance 3 either in 2011 or 2012.

So for Wii at least 19, maybe 21.

At the end of this gen, I think Wii will have the most 10 and 20 million plus sellers, but 360 will have the most 1, 3, and 5 million plus sellers.

Guys I already took GT5 prolgue off the list!

you shouldnt have caved in, it has SOLD 5 million, if it was from retail of download (which was not a free download, it cost money) is irrelevent.

there's nearly ZERO copies of gt5p on shelves, since GT5 is out. so its safe to assume that that shipped number is very very close to sold. so its likely around 5.1 million sold, since its 5.2 million shipped

The list should be limited to games that didn't need massive bundling to reach 5 million.

Its not same achievement if you only got there by giving away tons of free copies.

it still sold 5.2 million, we dont know how much it sold from bundles. we should not allow a game just because it was bundled, every game was/is/ will be bundled at some point pretty much. and the bundles it was in, added cost to the ps3, unlike the KZ3 bundle where it still cost $299.

B. No GT5 Prologue has not SOLD over 5mil copies, most stores do have plenty of copies of the game which ofc are not selling at all. I mean saying a game must have sold most of its shipped copies because no one is buying it anymore is just about the most ridiculous thing to claim. Its the exact opposite, retailers are shit out of luck in selling all the greatest hit copies of the game they have in storage, and if the reason you took it down is because you were peer pressured and not because people convinced you they are right then maybe someone else should indeed be making this thread.

gt5p has sold 5 miilion, and the reason it has stopped selling is becasue polyphony has stopped shipping because gt5 is out and there is no demand for gt5p

It did NOT sell 5.2m times, it got shipped and downloaded 5.2m times.

300k GT5P bundles were sold in Japan alone and didn't add any additional costs.

However I don't even have a problem if the game has been bundled a few houndred thousand times or not, only that using shipment numbers/download numbers in VGC statistics is not valid.

I agree with Torillian 100%. This whole ordeal has inspired me to make my own thread comparing the top50 exclusive sales for each platform. In fact, why doesn't everybody just make copies of the same thread?/s(except for the first statement)

Do as you please, but your intentions can get a thread locked. Obviously, if mine were problems, they would have been locked.

Edit

OT: Kinect Sports will prob hit it, Dance Central is a fair chance imo as well

CGI I have to give you props on staying so cool even with all this nonsense.

Life's too good to sweat the small stuff. I enjoy my time here and appreciate what the site has to offer. I'm not perfect (and of course, never claimed to be), but it's not worth losing your cool over a war of words.

Ha I wish I could be more like that but I have a hard time keeping my cool when people provoke me even when its trivial :S

I didn't mean to provke him and yes I have to recocnise you for keeping your cool. All I meant to say is that don't copy my thread. Anyways CGI lets call it a truce no one bugs each other every thread has it's own fault and let's learn to respect that.

I'm all for a truce (although, I really didn't have a serious issue with you).

That's true :)

i know, but surely it has sold through at least 5 million of those by now.

i have already said from the begining that it was shipped, but i also said its likely close to 99% of those being sold so ~5 million sold

That's true but we can't assume they maybe consist of the online sales as well but if you have proof that it sold 5 million without online sales I can put that game back up again

thats including online sales (about 1 miilion is from online) vgchartz numbers are probably pretty accurate if you dont include online (but online should still be counted in my opinion)

If GT5P wasn't massively bundled it wouldn't have "sold" 5 million.

Perhaps some of the other games on the list had some bundling, but they didn't need to be bundled to reach 5 million. Prologue however did. With that token, I'm okay with Forza 3 not making the list even though a majority of the sales did NOT come from bundling.
