Forums - Microsoft - Crysis 2. Actual Retail Gameplay. First 30 mins on 360.

I wanted to play the multiplayer yesterday but server kept booting me off before I could even join a game.

I want to see what the fuss is all about. I have it at the top of my GameFly queue right now, that way I possibly get it on release day.

iPhone = Great gaming device. Don't agree? Who cares, because you're wrong.

Currently playing:

Final Fantasy VI (iOS), Final Fantasy: Record Keeper (iOS) & Dragon Quest V (iOS)

Digital Foundry said that many of the innovations that Crytek is claiming to have made were already done by Bungie in Halo: Reach. So I expect comparisons will be made between the two.

I thought that Crytek was developing for each console seperately and now it 's pretty obvious that the PS3 got a port, my question is, is Rage being developed for each console or will the PS3 get a gimped port. It seems like in order to fully take advantage of the PS3 archeticture it needs it's own development cycle.

I was really hoping that crytek could surpass killzone 3. :(

I wouldn't have expected that. Killzone 3 has an optimized engine for one console (and it's the sequel to the best looking FPS on consoles). Crytek had much to prove here, and considering the current chatter, they may have failed the PS3.

Not to say they can't redeem themselves, but the only multiplatform title that I truly believe may give top-tier console lookers (like KZ3, Uncharted 3, & Gears 3) a run for their money (as I've said before) is Rage.

I actually think from what single player footage I've seen Crysis 2 is up there at least on the 360. The MP on the other hand just looks alot worse for some reason. I give credit to Killzone 3 for keeping the graphics relatively equal for the SP and MP and thats what makes it stand out. Also the Gears franchise has also been pretty equal looking for SP and MP and from what Gears 3 is looking like it will be a good contender MP and SP graphics wise.

Just watched the videos and it looks good, it has great lighting and everything has nice sharp look to it. And it may have open environments, but the gameplay that was shown the character was being funneled down a predetermined path. I still haven't had that OMG I need this game moment, I still may get it though.

The first video is just pre-rendered bs. The gameplay doesn't start till the second video.

Killzone 3 SP > Killzone 3 MP in graphics atleast. There's quite a huge difference, you just don't notice it because of the fucking amazing MP visuals. Only company that spoils us as much as Guerilla does is Naughty Dog and their Uncharted.

The MP of Crysis 2 is ..by far not the best looking one. It's SP, I will leave unsaid but I majorly doubt the SP is better than Killzone / Uncharted when the MP is ..not-so-good.

Let me know what you thought when you finished the game! I won't be getting this, hell no.

I didn't expect it to blow Killzone 3 away, but I did believe that they could bring all of these effects like dynamic real time lighting and still present a higher resolution and better textures then what they have shown and at a consistent frame rate. But what I've seen is a lot farther away from Killzone 3 then what I would have thought. Still super excited though, the gameplay looks fun which is the most important thng and Killzone 3 mp pissed me off. I die to one bullet, not a headshot, and have to empty a clip into an enemy to get a kill. Very inconsistent hit detection. :(

Is it really the retail gameplay, or is it on the PC using the 360 graphics setting?

I am guessing its the second since the retail graphics can be seen here in gamespot now playing:

Doesn't look anything special, just an upgraded Halo.

It's a burnt copy being played on the 360. Downloaded. Good old 360 piracy.

The Germans always get it first that way. It's explained in German. Just used a translater on his Youtube page.

No its not. Here is his reply to one of the comments translated through google translate:

"The video shows the Sanbox 3 x64 Edition XBOX360 developer mode.

So everything you see here, too, is what you see on the box later, if you play the game at home on the 360."

That means that he is playing on the PC with the 360 settings turned on which is a rough estimation of how the 360 version will look.

Thats the same thing. How do you think the developers test the game on each platform?

In other words the version he's playing is not PC with 360 settings. It's the 360 developer mode. There is no scalable or changable options. It's a preset graphics group solely for the retail 360 disc.

Sigh.

I sure hope you are right. Ive seen the ps3 mode on PC and it is definitely not what i saw yesterday playing the demo.

Gaming on: PS4 Pro, Switch, SNES Mini, Wii U, PC (i5-7400, GTX 1060)

good lord, the visuals are as GOD!

I can understand now when opm and cvg say it's the best looking game on consoles

CGI-Quality said:

Funny, they haven't actually said that since mid 2010

It's the quote on the box. Legally it has to be from a review and from these visuals, you can see why, they're completely unprecedented on consoles.

CGI-Quality said:

and OPM didn't say it at all.

soz, i meant that it looks better than KZ3, they said that.

CVG's recent comments only defend the PS3 version, but still don't call it the best looking game on consoles:

Its in the review.
