@Jumpin so if anyone didnt particularly care for NSMBWii they are wrong? your theory falls apart because its all a matter of opinion. Not everyone is going to like a certain thing so to that person who didnt like it, the game is not that valuble

21.5 million people opting to buy NSMB vs 6.2M opting to buy Super Mario Galaxy 2 is not an opinion, it is a fact. A fact that strongly supports that NSMB was correctly priced; and no opinion will make a theory supported by irrefutable fact fall apart.

But...but... they told me sales not = quality! I mean, who would be the 21 millionguys to PAY with their own hard money for something so bad?

oniyide can personally think one game is worth full price and not the other, but that does not make it an objective poor choice considering what sold more.

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

Let's see.   It's because it's as good as any 2-D platformer ever made, and I don't give this sort of praise ever.

Why?  It has simply has the greatest level design that I have ever seen for this type of game.  I constantly asked myself how the heck they thought up all of the brilliant stuff in it.  The variety is fantastic and everytime you think that you've seen it all, the game throws you a curveball.

Now people that say that the replayability is limited haven't played the game.  After you get all of the Kong letters and puzzle pieces there is a mirror mode where you don't get the to use Diddy Kong's hover jump and you die from your first mistake.  Then there is time attack mode where you can get bronze, silver, gold, and shiny gold medals.  Try to get all of the shiny gold medals and see what happens.  As Rol stated, only a few people have done it and it's nearly impossible.  I'm going to try to do it, but don't expect to, and I can normally complete ANY game 100% with a decent struggle.  I don't know if all of my gaming efforts will ever result in me getting all of the shiny golds.

THIS! THIS! THIS,THIS,THIS !!!!

The game could have easly been in my top 10 best looking games this gen ONL IF IT WAS in HD! :( : (. God damnit Nintendo...

@jumpin so just because im not with the majority on this im wrong?? is that where your going with this??? so i guess anyone who didnt buy COD, GTA or whatever else sells millions is wrong. I didnt get the game at full price because I dont think it was worth it at that price. I dont give a damn what 21 million other people did.

@lordtheknight  at least you try to make sense, i respect. My issue is with some of these people being offended that i didnt like something that the majortiy liked, which is ridiculous to me. Some of them bash HD games all day i never bat an eye, it is your right to get and not get what is good for you.  People think a GTA or Uncharted sucks, fine doesnt kill my enjoyment of the game.

Not that i think about it im gonna rethink my stance on DKCR, that game is really, really really pretty and is just IMHO a better overall game than NSMBWii, im still waiting for a price drop but not because its 2D but the game didnt just screame "buy me now" As for your DS inquiry i read it on negative.com ill find the link, but who knows how credible they are. but if you just look at the two their not really that much different and the music is the same

^^^ you still have yet to show me how much the game cost to make and why it should retail for $50   I bought GTA4 long after it came out so by default it was cheaper. (didnt own a PS3 when it was out). production cost isnt the reason why i didnt buy DKCR or NSMBWii. If you actually read my posts instead of whining, i already stated that just one of th reasons. ill give you more if it makes you feel happy, games didnt really grab me, felt that outside some nice visuuals (DKCR in this case) they didnt really do anything that i havent seen in other 2d platformers since the 16 bit era. My reasoning is my reasoning you dont like it thats your problem. and FYI everything was fine untill you came in to "rescue" Ninty yet again.

^^^ Your first paragraph is the most sensible thing you've typed. However one, It matters to me, i dont like to feel im getting ripped off, no matter what the company. Why does it matter that the game sold 20 million copies? How does that hurt or benefit me?? I should have bought it becasue everyone else did??? By that logic you should have bought COD, GTA, Just Dance, WiiFIt, whatever sold millions. As the old axiom says if someone jumps off a bridge do you do it?? What happened to having a mind of your own???

Before you came into the thread Lordtheknight and I were having a casual conversation, he gave his points in a less than snide manner and so did I, you did come in with piss and vinegar ready to get your Hyrule sheild up. I have no problem with challenging my point, my problem is that if someone doesnt agree with you their is something wrong with them. I dont think Mario is worth the price of admission. I still think they overcharged and no one has given me any backing that makes me think otherwise and no just because 20 million people did it, thats not good enough

^^^^ Thats my point IN MY OPINION it was overpriced. I dont care if the sold 20 Mil or 20 thousand. You can scream that the demand and market was that high, but im not part of that market so therefore I saw no reason to buy the game. Im still waiting to see how much the game cost to produce im comparision to the 3D one and since your ignoring that. I would assume that A. You dont know and are just to shy to say so or B. the game to you is so awesome that price doesnt matter, which is cool. I just dont share that sentiment.

@therepublic how are they not without merit??? Prove to me that there not and ill shut the hell up. as for that sentence dont know where you got that i thought Galaxy 2 was better. when i wrote that that is not what im thinking at all

NSMB Wii currently sits as the 14th best selling game of all time.  If the game was overpriced as you claim, then people would have refused to buy it.

If you don't think it is worth the money personally, then that is fine.  But it is the market that ultimately determines if a product was correctly priced or not.  Clearly, the market has spoken.
